How to Activate Reverse Light Circuit of 7-Way Adapter part # 37185

Question:

Hi I ordered Hopkins 4 to 7 with 4 pole conector. My only question is with the reverse wire I watched a bunch of your videos but all of them they don’t use the reverse. I’m buying a trailer with reverse lights not sure of the reverse light wire. The reverse wire connects to one of the tail lights reverse wire from the truck? I purchased a 4 pin and a hitch for a car to tow a jet ski that had no 4 pin conector so your kit was taped to the tail lights of the car. Is it some thing like it just instead of using the break or turn signal wires I tap in to the reverse one? Reverse is a yellow wire or aux.

In most situations a reverse light circuit isn't needed when using the 4-way to 7-way adapter part # 37185. But if you do need to activate this circuit you'll want to run the purple wire of the adapter to the reverse light circuit of the vehicle and use a quick splice like # SWC501746-1 to tap into it and you'd be set.

You'd need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires that run to the reverse light to find the correct wire to use.
