Video Transcript for 3M Wiring 44-5310A Review

Today, we're going to review part number 44-5310A. This is the 3M ring terminal for 12 to 10 gauge sized wire with a ring inside diameter of 3/16ths of an inch. These ring terminals are used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening. This one is for use with a 10 or 12 gauge sized wire. It does have the vinyl insulation sleeve, which is yellow, and then the ring terminal, the inside diameter is 3/16ths so it is designed to fit on a stud size of 3/16ths of an inch. Basically, want to show you here, I got an example right here of a 12 gauge sized wire. What you would basically do is just side this into ...

You don't really want to have it sticking out. You could, but what I like to do is put it right there. Then, you're going to crimp, have a set of . This is a wire stripper with, down here is the crimping portion. If you just stick that in the very .. Put it right over there and then all you have to do is push down just like that.

Once you push down and hard enough, you can see that it crimps that wire to this ring terminal. You can see that you have a good connection. That's the reason I don't like to have the wire stick out too much because you don't want any of that exposed so if you just keep it under that insulation sleeve, you should be in good shape. That should do it for the review on part number 44-5310A. This is the 3M ring terminal for 12 to 10 gauge sized wire with the 3/16ths inch ring inside diameter. .

Replaced trailer wiring over a year ago and lights still work great. No issues with these connectors. Used them in new junction box.

by:

Fast shipping and exactly what I needed to replace my OEM Trailer pigtail.

by:

connectors and breakers to hook up my brake controller arrived in order, installed easily, and lasted 1 year so far...

Had this sent to the person I purchased my Used Lance 1030 from before picking it up. He said this was a Super High Quality Product! Nice and Color Coded Heavy duty terminals. His Electrician is removing the end of the Lance plug so I can just use the 7 bladed plug at the end of the bed of my truck next to my License plate (2017 F350 PSD, DRW Super Cab, 8 Foot bed)

by:

Good connector. Used it to terminate LED lighting and no problems in about a year so far.

by:

Bought in conjunction with other items to rewire trailer.
Works as advertised.
Speedy delivery.

by:

Quick service/delivery. Nothing really exceptional about these. Frankly, wish I had gotten some with heat shrink.

by:

Overall a good product. Easy to use and install.

The only minor issue we had was the plastic band coming loose after crimping the wire onto the connector.

by:

Everything was as advertised, and thank you Kaylyn R for your wonderful customer service. It took awhile to get everything installed, because of crazy events in the past year, but it all works great!

by:

Worked well with everything downstream of the primary wiring. Just wasn't big enough for the primaries, got that at a local hardware store.

by:

Everything arrived faster than I thought it would and everything looks great!!! I will be buying more when I need trailer parts in future. Things should go alright installing unless I screw it up.

by:

Odelia waited on me and was very helpful as well as professional. I certainly would order from her again and recomend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer supplies.

by:

What can I say, its a ring terminal.

by:

Not a cheap connector

  • New Side Marker trailer Lights are Very Dim
It sounds like a bad ground connection. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light. But can also appear when changing out lights. Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. The main connector grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. The light grounds should...

  • Recommended Junction Box for 7-Way Trailer Connector
To purchase just the junction box you will want item # 38656. It is made by Spectro. This box is weather proof, but not water proof, and what that means is that it will keep water out under normal circumstances rain and puddles, but if it were to be submerged the box would not stay dry on the inside. I have linked an installation video below. You will also want the Ring Terminal item # 44-5310A to complete your installation.

We can help you re-wire your tandem axle gooseneck trailer to have a 7-way plug to match your tow vehicle. Have a look at the linked article on trailer wiring. Typically a white wire is used for ground. Yes, the Pollak 10-Terminal Junction Box part # PK52248 will work to wire up the lights on your flat bed trailer. • Troubleshooting 7-Way Trailer Wiring with Colors That Don't Match Functions
Wiring by function is the route to go for your situation. This is done by testing each wire of your trailer individually. One wire in your 7-way will be the ground wire. You will want to find this one first because it will cause a spark if you connect the battery to it. You can trace...

I'm glad the new Hopkins 7-way was an easy installation. The apparent difference in size of the connector on your trailer is odd as the blades and corresponding connections are industry standard size. It is possible that your trailer doesn't have the industry standard connector, but that would be odd. The only other thing that would cause a connector to not fit is if there is corrosion built up on the inside of the trailer wiring connector. You may want to take a look at that possibility...
