Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods Wiring - Wire Connectors - 44-5356A

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for a 12 to 10 gauge size wire. Now the ring terminal here is used for all types of electrical work where wires need fastening to a stud. Usually it connects to the end of a bare wire to give a better electrical connection to that stud. Now this part here is designed to attach a 12 or 10 gauge size wire to a stud size of 5/16 of an inch diameter.

Basically, your bare wire will insert into this brass sleeve portion of the terminal and then it's secured by crimping it into place. The ring terminals, you can see, are color coded using the vinyl insulation sleeve. This one you can see is a yellow color, which means it's designed to fit the 12 gauge to 10 gauge size wire. They also offer them in a blue color, which will fit a 16 to 14 gauge size wire, and a red color, which will fit a 22 to 18 gauge size wire. Basically, the higher the wire gauge number is, the smaller the size of the wire is.

But that should do it for the review on the 5/16 inch yellow ring terminal for the 12 to 10 gauge size wire.

Works as advertised.

Works as described. Spoke with Madison about my order and she was very helpful and addressed all my questions. etrailer has always had what I needed.

by:

The manufacturer of my trailer screwed the grounding wire for the trailer into the tongue of the trailer using a self-tapping screw. That lasted about two months before the wire snapped free. Instead of having that happen again, I used this product by crimping the grounding wire to the but end and then I placed the cotter pin from the trailer coupler through the loop and the wire from that pin makes constant contact with the loop, allowing grounding. Worked like a charm and there's no tension on the grounding wire anymore.

by:

Ordered several things to hook up trailer brake controller on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Everything was promptly shipped and at a fair price.
Will use etrailer.com again, if I have the need.

by:

Im all thumbs and was able to totally rewire my trailer in an hour or so. No problems. I am legal again with my lights!! Thanks.

  • Can Powered A-Frame Jack Connect to Trailer Junction Box
With powered a-frame jacks like the Lippert # LC285318 you referenced your best option for powering it is the battery that's mounted on the trailer as that will have the most amperage available. If your junction box runs to the trailer battery then you could run it there for a cleaner install. Or if you wanted to run it to the battery directly you certainly could. For a ring terminal for the junction box the part # 44-5356A would work well.

  • Options for Adding Electric Drum Brakes to Motorcycle Trailer
We can help you with the project of adding electric drum brakes to your motorcycle trailer. You may care to have a look at the linked article which covers the entire process and the items needed. Generally a trailer with GVWR of 1200-lbs will not require brakes in most states but you can check your local state regulations to be sure. I suggest you consider a whole new axle kit that includes brakes. This will save you a lot of time and labor costs too since the brake flange is already installed....

  • Ring Terminal Recommendation for Circuit Breaker 9506P
Sounds like you are looking for ring terminals to use with the circuit breaker part # 9506P. For that you would want the Ring Terminal # 44-5356A which has a 5/16 inner diameter and is designed for use with 10-12 gauge wires. The side of the breaker that has the copper looking post will be the side that runs to the battery and the other side will run to the accessory you will be powering.

To get power to the pin in the 1:00 position of the # PK12703 7-way trailer connector, you'd run a length of 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot from the terminal for the 1:00 pin on the 7-way to the positive battery terminal, via a # 9510 40 amp circuit breaker. You'd need two # DW05741-1 ring terminals to connect to the breaker and a # 44-5356A ring terminal to connect at the battery.

  • Brake Controller Troubleshooting, Recommendation and Installation on 2019 Jeep Compass
Are you speaking of the Tekonsha Prodigy RF? If so, the trailer connector on the vehicle needs funtional lighting circuits and a 12-volt constant power supply to the pin on the 7-way trailer that's in the 1:00 position. Assuming that you're using an adapter such as the # 37185, you'd plug the 4 pin plug on the adapter into the corresponding plug on the vehicle, ground the white wire to the vehicle chassis or frame and extend the black wire so it'll reach the vehicle's positive battery terminal....

  • Troubleshooting No Power on a 12v Power Pin on a 7-way Harness on a 2020 Ford F-350
The first thing you need to do is check the appropriate fuses on your vehicle for a blown fuse on your 2020 Ford F-350 super duty. If everything looks good with the fuses, I recommend checking for shorts or fraying in the 12v wiring anywhere from the plug to where the harness connects to the front of the vehicle. This can be done at different points of the wiring with a circuit tester # PTW2993. It is also important to check and make sure the ground wires on your harness are mounted to...

With a fuse you would have to replace it. The 10-gauge wire is sold in 1 foot increments. There are 2 terminals on the circuit breaker. The copper-colored one labeled BAT connects to the battery and the one labeled AUX will go to your radio. You will need ring terminals like # 44-5356A. I have linked a video...

I really wish we did, but the largest ring terminal wire gauges we carry is 10 gauge like the part # 44-5310A for a 3/16 inch ring diameter, # 44-5356A for a 5/16 ring diamter, or a part # DW05705-1 for a 3/8 inner diameter. Assuming that you've found the correct connector for the # 3064-P brake control harness which is located under the dash to the left of the steering column, I'd wager than you have a fuse missing in the power distribution box in the engine compartment on the passenger side. Check fuse location # 84, and make sure that there's a fuse installed there. If the fuse is missing or blown, you can obtain a replacement from your local auto parts store.

It sounds like you're pretty well set up! I'd recommend the Curt Echo wireless brake controller, part # C51180. The Echo communicates wirelessly with your smart phone, allowing you to control and monitor the performance of your trailer brakes from the vehicle cab whiteout needing extensive wiring and drilling any holes in your dashboard. • Making a Complete Ground on a Simple Utility Trailer
The white ground wire just needs to be attached to the frame or tongue of the trailer so that the entire trailer frame and structure becomes an electrical ground. Make sure the ground has direct contact to the metal. Paint can sometimes act as an insulator preventing a good ground connection. Use a ring terminal, like part # 44-5356A, and attach it to the frame with a metal screw. It sounds like the lights on the trailer are grounded to the trailer body, so by attaching the short white...

First, use a circuit tester like # 40376 if needed, to test the 7-Way trailer connector. The 12-volt circuit will be in the 1 oclock position. If the trailer side connector pin that corresponds with the 12-volt circuit is connected to the battery on the trailer, then you will not have to change or add anything. If it is not, you can either connect the battery to that circuit or use the auxiliary pin in the center. Again, use the circuit tester to test the center pin. It may be connected...

If you aren't getting power to the pin in the 1:00 position in the 7-way trailer connector with the ignition on, then the easiest way I can think of to fix it short of taking it to the Ford dealer would be to abandon the factory charge circuit and wire your own.
