Adding 7-Way and Brake Controller to 2016 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I plan on pairing 37185 with a Curt Echo C51180 to a 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE. What circuit breaker would you recommend using for this specific part? Maybe 38630? Additionally, I plan on using 12 gauge wire to connect the hot wire to the battery. Is this okay or should 10 gauge be used? Im seeing mixed answers. I am aware of the kit, but I prefer to build out the wire and breaker separately. Thank you for your assistance and guidance.

For installing the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185 on your 2016 Toyota Highlander I recommend using the 40 Amp -In-Line Circuit Breaker # 9510. This will ensure that you have enough power for the charge line circuit and Curt Echo # C51180.
I recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1 as this will better protect the wire from over heating. You will be using around 20 feet of wire to get to the battery on the front on your Highlander and the 10 gauge wire is better at resisting heat build up and will ensure that you get enough power with less resistance in the wiring. Be sure to route the wire away from heat and use Cable Ties # DW05724-25 to protect the wire.
