Lippert Power Tongue Jack Won't Work Plugged Into 2020 Ford Ford F-350
Question:
I bought a lippert power jack with 2 wire to 7 pin plug. I have a 2020 F350 and can’t seem to figure out power issue. The cord has two wires, red and black. The black is in the black slot and the red is in the white spot from factory. I can’t seem to figure out which I need to move for it to work on my truck 7 pin plug. Trailer 7 pin works so I know it isn’t the truck.

I do have an option for you but there's no way you can switch pins inside the trailer connector for this to work. The battery charge line circuit or twelve volt power within the trailer connector on the vehicle side is only active while moving on most newer Ford trucks. This is by design and has been coined "Ford Smart Tow". It's done to conserve power of the vehicles battery so it's not just charging the trailer battery at all times even when not needed. I understand this frustrates a lot of owners as it causes problems for certain accessories and a lot of head scratching. There isn't a way to get around this other than just running your own wire from the trailer connector to the battery using the 10 Gauge Primary Wire part # DW02508-1 and 40 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker part # 9510 but keep in mind this could cause a CEL to appear.
