How to Wire The Pollack 7-Pole Trailer Connector With 2 Brown and 2 White Wires
Question:
Im trying to replace a flat 7 way with a PK12706 and some of the wire colors are different. On the flat the wires are 2 white, 2 brown, 1 yellow, 1 green and 1 blue. If I do as the video shows than I still have a brown and white left. Thanks

It sounds like someone has wired your trailer with non-standard wiring colors. Your additional brown and white wire are most likely a 12 volt power lead and an auxiliary power lead. Before you wire the Pollak 7-Pole Trailer Connector, # PK12706, you should verify the function of each wire.
Our video and our chart on the product page shows the standard wiring colors. To verify the functions of each wire you can follow the wires along the trailer and see where they end up or you can use an independent power source such as a car battery to activate the function of each wire.
Please note that if you use a car battery you should ground the negative battery terminal to the trailer frame.
Once you have verified the function of each wire then the 7-Pole trailer connector will wire up as follows: tail and running lights to green, left turn to red, ground to white, electric brake wire to blue, right turn to brown, 12 volt battery power to black, and reverse lights to center pin. It is important that the wires are connected to the trailer connector by function and not by color.
