Video Transcript for Fulton Trailer Winch - Standard Hand Winch - F142410 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a Fulton High Speed Performance Two-Speed Trailer Wench. Now, this wench is ideal for boat trailers. It features a two-speed design, so you have a fast speed, which lets you pull your line in quickly. And then you have a lower speed, which offers and increased mechanical advantage for easier pulling. Now, the shift lock design of this wench is a really neat feature. It simply lets you change gears without having to move the handle from one shaft to another shaft. All you have to do is lift up on that tab and slide the shaft into the desired gear position.

So, here's a position. And then all the way over is another position. So, those are your two speeds. And then in the middle is the free wheel or neutral position. So, this allows for quick line pay out without the handle spinning, which is a nice design. The handle is included and features a comfort grip design for easy cranking.

It also features a solid one-piece drum gear, which eliminates internal corrosion. It's gonna last longer, much longer, especially compared to a riveted drum gear. And when when it comes to the finishing on the unit we're looking at a ZMAX 600 zinc finish, which provides superior rust resistance. This actually features a 600 hour salt spray rating. Nice durable steel construction.I do want to mention that there is an optional hand brake kit that can be added to this unit.

That item is sold separately. That's gonna be ideal when you're letting a boat into the water, and if it's a heavy boat and maybe you're on a steeper incline that hand brake comes in handy to really control the speed in which you let the boat into the water or off of the trailer. So, again, optional hand brake kit is sold separately and can be added to this wench. Now, this wench features a capacity of 2600 pounds. It is for pulling applications. It's not designed for lifting applications.

The hub diameter, which is this portion here, that's a one-inch diameter. And this wench is designed for use with rope only. So, it will accommodate a 7/16" diameter rope that measures up to 24 feet long. The gear ratio on the unit is 5.1:1. And then also in the other gear it's 12.2:1. So, that means for every 5.1 full turns, or complete rotations of the handle, our hub completes one full rotation. Or for every 12.2 turns of the handle our hub completes one full rotation. Now, I did take a measurement of the unit. I measured from very back to very front, or edge to edge. Got an overall length measurement of about 9.5 inches long. Edge to edge, including all the hardware and the pins and stuff, I got a measurement of 8.75 inches wide. Bottom to top was 7.25 inches tall. The base on this unit, this portion here, measures 5.75 inches wide by 7 inches long. You'll notice the multiple mounting points on there. Mounting hardware not included, so you do need to provide it on your own, but multiple mount holes are available on the unit to ensure that it's gonna fit. So, nice universal fit design when it comes to the mount hole locations.Last thing I want to mention for you is the handle length. You want to make sure that when this is installed it does not interfere with any other components. When we usually do our handle length measurements what we measure from is the center of the attachment point to the center of the hand grip. If I place a ruler on there, and make it as straight as possible . Notice it does have that offset there as well. But, from the center of the mounting point to the center of the hand grip area it looks to be about 10 inches. So, that's gonna be our handle length for this particular unit. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Fulton High Performance Two-Speed Trailer Wench.

This winch was the perfect replacement for the 20-year old one I had (with worn out bearings). It bolted right in and has worked perfectly. Thanks for your help in helping me select it!

  • Troubleshooting Fulton T1801 Slipping
Your Fulton T1801 may be slipping for a number of different reasons. Some of the most common come from use over time. If the teeth on the planetary gear or ratchet pawl start to wear down, or if the handle is stripped at the attachment point, you may experience slipping. If it is only slightly worn that would explain why it works fine without any weight but not with the weight of the boat. The spring may also need to be replaced. If you can identify the handle as the problem, the # F501109...

  • How Does the Replacement Winch Spring Attach to a Fulton T2605
The Replacement Spring for Fulton Winch # 4769-28 for your Fulton T2605 is definitely not the easiest thing to get installed, but I do have a picture below that will show how it is done. You will need to remove the bolt holding the ratchet pawl in place, but be sure to note how it came apart. There will be about 7 pieces total once removed and can be a pain to put back together.
