Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Fulton Two Speed Trailer Winch. This hand winch makes it easier to pull or lift, large or heavy items. This particular winch is idea for boat trailers. It features a 3200 lb first layer capacity, with a 1600 lb full drum capacity, and it has two different speeds, to best fit your application.You're gonna have a fast speed, which lets you pull the line in quickly, and then you're gonna have a lower speed, which offers an increased mechanical advantage. To switch between the different speeds, it uses a shift-lock design. This lets you change gears, without having to move the handle.
So, all you have to do is pull that back, and then you slide that shaft to the position that you need it to be in.So, you never have to remove the handle. There's three positions to choose from. You're gonna have one speed. Then you're gonna have another speed. And then, you're gonna have a neutral position.
Now, this is a free wheel position that allows for quick line payout, without the handle spinning. So you can extend the line out, as needed, without the handle rotating, which is a really great safety feature to have.You'll also notice that the end of the strap is a safety latch mechanism, so it has the hook with a spring-loaded safety latch, to prevent accidental disconnecting. And again, the neatest feature about that shift-lock design is it holds the shaft in gear, and there's no need to move the handle from shaft to shaft. Just slide the shaft into the desired gear position.You're gonna have the ratchet pull, right here. So it allows you to change the direction of pull.
Really nice design. It's got the convenient handle on there. It allows for an easy grip design. And again, the strap is included. That measures 20' long by 2' wide.
The winch itself is a steel construction with a zinc finish, which provides superior corrosion resistance. The handle radius is about 10-1/2", measured from the center of where it mounts to the furthest out point. You've got a measurement of about 10-1/2".Again, two speeds, that means two different gear ratios. This winch offers a 5.1:1 and a 12.2:1 gear ratio, so that simply means that for every 5.1 full turns of the handle, the unit rotates one full rotation, and then the other speed, for every 12.2 turns, it creates one full rotation.The base on the unit has multiple holes, for a universal design. So, you can use these holes to get it installed to your application. Mounting hardware is not included. The base itself measures 5-3/4" wide by 6-7/8" long. Overall measurements, start with the overall length, from edge to edge, was about 9-1/2" long. Overall height, from bottom to top, was about 7-1/4" tall. And the overall width, from side to side, was about 8-5/8" wide, and that was measured from outer point to outer point.That's going to do it for today's look at the Fulton Two Speed Trailer Winch.

I purchased this to replace the wench that came on my Rocket Trailer that’s only 18 months old. The Fulton wench in a vast improvement over the wench from the manufacturer. Heavy gauges metal, easy of gear changing, more robust gears, I am glad I spent a little more and got this wench.

When I installed the winch I did have to drill new holes, but that was no problem. There was a problem with the winch. The pinion gear that drives the large gear on the real did not line up properly. It worked fine, but I was afraid over time winching my Four Winns 225 Sundowner boat it might wear the gear prematurely. I contacted etrailer.com and sent some pictures. They had a new winch in the mail the same day, and sent me a shipping label to send the old winch back. The people at etrailer.com are great. And the new winch is great. The neutral position allows the strap to be pulled out easily. It is easy to shift between high and low gear for fast and easy cranking my 5,000 lb. boat onto the trailer.

The Fulton,F142424, is a tremendous asset for a boat trailer. It’s almost effortless winching my boat back on the trailer now with the two speed winch option. Wish I had bought this winch years ago. I launch and recover my boat on some pretty shallow public ramps sometimes and you have too winch the boat on rather than drive it on. This winch makes that process a whole lot easier.

Easy replacement for the original winch, even though this one is much larger. Bolt holes lined up with the original and went right on. This is very smooth, with easy changes between the 2 speeds. Great to not have to move the handle to a different shaft to change speeds. Only negative was that it came with absolutely no instructions (not that installation was tough, but still) or mounting bolts. Would have preferred a 32’ strap since it went on a 30’ trailer, but hopefully this will work well.

The winch is dragging a 7000 pound boat up the trailer, I power load it on but it always needs to be cranked up further and it gets it done.

I ordered this two speed Fulton winch because I keep my 18' center console on a trailer and launch and recover it about 60 to 70 times each fishing season and I have a bad shoulder and was tired of fighting the one speed direct drive winch to get the boat up the last couple of feet. This two speed winch makes everything much easier--cranking in the last two feet is very easy now, and the feature that allows you to free spool the strap out without the handle spinning around is awesome. I wish I had bought this winch two years ago, when I bought the boat.

This is an excellent and powerful winch. I replaced a smaller winch and really like the extra pulling power of the larger device. The install is easy. I had to drill two 3/8 holes to widen the base for this one, but drilling may not be required, depends on the pedestal on your trailer. Overall, very satified.

Replacing a smaller 900# Winch on my Macgregor 26s trailer.
While I've not had the pleasure of using it on launch or retrieval yet, it certainly looks to be up to the job.

Missing handle. I called etrailer was told that I would here something by the end of the week, Im sorry not good enough. Then was told they would put urgent on it. Not sure what that means. End of the week and thought I would have gotten an e mail or something. Never good when they have your money and you don't have what you paid for.

Winch works as advertised. My only point of criticism of the design is that the selector for direction does not a have a "free wheel" position on the switch. User must physically hold it between fwd and rev. Quality of winch is very good.
Bolt hole pattern on frame of winch didn't match hole pattern on old winch and had to drill new holes.

I use this winch on a hay bale unroller to feed 1 to 3 bales a day all winter. Everything on this winch is built well, the neutral position makes pulling strap out easy and safer than having a spinning handle. The handle is also longer than some other winches which is great. This same unroller ate two winches of lesser quality in less than a year, this one is still going without complaint.

I purchased the Fulton 2-speed trailer winch to use on my Sun Tracker 25 ' pontoon boat. The winch is very well designed and made with excellent quality. The strapping installed on the winch has exactly the strength capacity and durability needed for my large pontoon boat. I sure don't expect to experience any winching problems related to this quality product.

I absolutely love this winch! It is big and sturdy and handles my 23' boat very well. I went through 3 different winched trying to find one that I liked and trusted and this one was far superior to ANY of the others! We have even had to crank the boat in by hand once due to mechanical issues and it worked great! I have recommended this winch to all of my boating friends.

This product is very high quality material and craftsmanship. I just mounted on my boat trailer today, so I can't say anything about how it will work yet, but I am sure I will be very happy with it. It is by far heavier duty and higher quality that what I am replacing. I did my share of research before landing on this model and it is everything it's advertised to be. the winch i bought is the 3200 heavy duty. it did what it was designed for until the little gear on the handle shaft started turning and dumped my boat on the boat ramp. it seems it is pressed on under pressure without a pin or screw anchoring it to the shaft. it failed only 2 months after installation. my boat is a 24 ft bayliner and is well within the weight parameters stated by the experts. i dont know if there is a better one out there but i cant recommend this winch if you have a heavy boat.

Melissa at etrailer did a great job helping me select this heavy duty winch for my hay trailer. The mounting plate was the same for the light duty old winch so it was easy to install this morning and then I distributed three 1,100 pound round bales of haygrazer to our cattle.
