This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Great product! Fits perfectly and is a fantastic upgrade for my boat trailer. Extremely pleased with the quick processing and deliver

by:

I was not compensated for this review, and am a regular etrailer customer. I opted for this wheel/tire combo as a refresh on my travel trailer because I wanted something that wouldn't rust. Plus, I wanted something that looked nicer than the plain ol' steel white rim. The specs of this combo were an exact match (lug pattern, pilot hole size, tire/rim size and the load range I wanted). Each rim/tire was shipped in its own heavy duty cardboard box.

Pros: Love the look. Weight is less than the steel rims they replaced. Very well made - no flaws in the finish, and the tires appear to be top of the line. My center caps (not included) fit perfectly into the pilot hole. My old tires were Load Range 'C', and as soon as I lowered the trailer onto these Load Range 'D' tires, I could tell a major difference in how much less the trailer was moving/swaying as I moved around. Very happy with that!

Cons: Really none.

Thoughts to share on my experience mounting the tires: One minor annoyance... There's a sticker on each rim that says; Use Soap & Water only - don't use harsh chemicals to clean or it may discolor the finish. Well, the stickers have permanent stick glue instead of an easy release adhesive like those yellow sticky notes. I had to use chemicals to get the glue off, and DON'T EVEN THINK OF USING A SCRAPER or you'll scratch the finish. Take your time - soak a rag with Goo remover and place the rag on top of the sticker to let it sink in. Then use your fingernail to scrape it off. Repeat process until glue is gone, then follow up with a little soapy water to get the chemicals off.
** Maybe etrailer can switch to using a sticky note that won't leave any residue behind.

Final thoughts: I would definitely buy this combo again, absolutely no regrets. Worth the money, and the delivery time was as described. Thanks etrailer!!

Good selection of tires and rims for boat trailers. These new rims with center caps and radial tires look super nice. Very pleased so far.

by:

Look great on my boat trailer! Had to get some lug nuts with caps on them being that these rims will be getting wet! Overall love the customer service reps that worked with me and the packaging and shipping were all excellent. Will definitely use this company again.

by:

I had ordered a set of wheels for my boat trailer and they arrived a day early with that said they are very nice tires and rims as described, what I was really impressed with is the tracking process it's got to be one of the best I've seen, thanks again for the great product

by:

Wheels and tires are great but etrailer shipped multiple items in one large box with no packaging. I ordered a Curt trailer hitch and it completely destroyed the face of the wheels. Pretty obvious etrailer doesn’t care about the quality of the products they ship out.

the trailer pulled great

by:

Just as advertised, good looking, nice finish and rolled really well under a load

by:

The rims are very nice tires look great. It is actually very hard to rate them when you don't know how the tires will hold up. So basically I'm rating them on appearance only.

by:

wow, great looking tires and rims. very pleased with the quality. well worth the wait.

by:

How do you make your 12 year old trailer look great? Throw on a couple of these tires and wheels. I must say the finish on these wheels look great. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality finish given the price. The tires are D-class rated for 81mph. Load rated for 1653lbs. These weren’t sitting around in some warehouse either, they were only 2 months old. Super excited about these. Look great, great price and fantastic customer service. 5 stars as always! Oh and don’t forget the chrome lug nuts.

by:

Delivery was very impressiVe. I wasn't expecting that I will be able to use them on the day I needed it. Wheels and tires are excellent. I will buy again from etrailer for sure! Thank you very much Ed for excellent service! Hope they will hire more of you! Keep it up! More power etrailer!!!

by:

Bought these tires and rims for my motorcycle trailer. D rating of the tires handles the load of my bike with no problem. The wheels look great !!

by:

These completely changed the look of my skiff trailer - arrived in perfect shape, switched them out with the stock galvanized wheels in about 30 minutes. Great quality, no flaws, and exactly as advertised

by:

Purchased as a spare for my Triton trailer. The wheel was correct and tire was of good quality. This is the second time I've purchased a spare tire and wheel from e-trailer,service and quality are unbeatable.

by:

Very well worth the buy, and even though it maybe sometime before I make my next purchase of these tires because they last so long, I'm looking forward to that purchase. Trust me, don't purchase them cheap non radial tires, spend the little extra money for theses guys, you will be thankful for this review.

by:

Putting them on a jet ski trailer. I convert a jet ski trailer to a unique luggage trailer.

by:

Awesome wheel and tire combo for the price. Wheel design is excellent for a black painted trailer.

by:

Just got my wheels and tires in 3 days with free shipping. Awesome customer service and a great price. Second time I have used etrailer and now plan to use them for any future needs. A+

by:

Tires look fantastic on my boat trailer! No issues with shipping and they arrived two days early!

by:

Ordered these wheels for my jet ski trailer, wheels are excellent quality and finish off the trailer. etrailer was great to work with, the wheels were boxes nicely delivered in great shape. Will definitely use etrailer in the future.

by:

Beautiful wheels and tires but they do not balance them. Only reason for the below average feedback. I will have to have them balanced before installing.

by:

These wheels seem like very good quality, service was excellent.

by:

Exactly what I ordered. Great wheel and tire. Thanks :o)

For your Bass Tracker on a TailStar trailer the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13 inch Aluminum Wheel, item # AM32001HWTB, would be a good choice. For Lug Nuts you would use 10 of the Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, item # AM90049, to replace two wheels. This wheel has a 3.19 inch pilot diameter so the Stainless Steel Trailer...

  • Radial vs Bias Ply Type Special Trailer Tires for Long-Distance Cross-Country Travel
For long-distance highway driving where interstate speed limits can get pretty high you will be better off with radial special trailer tires. Radial tires have more sidewall flex which lets them corner better and they can sometimes have higher speed ratings than bias ply tires. You will want to make sure the tires have the required load capacity for the loaded trailer weight. Special trailer tires come in various Load Ranges so choose the load range tire that gives you some safety margin....

  • Choosing Between Galvanized Trailer Wheels and Aluminum Trailer Wheels for a Boat Trailer
In the galvanizing process, depending on how the manufacturer dries the wheels some of it can pool on one side due to the dipping processed used. You pay a little more, but you still get excellent corrosion resistance, style, and none of the issues associated with galvanized wheels.
