Replacement Wheels and Tires for 2001 Rockwood Freedom 2290 Tent Camper

Question:

I want to replace the 12 inch wheels and tires on my 2001 Rockwood Freedom 2290 tent camper and want to move up to a 13 inch size. Im wondering if I can safely do this? Here are the current mesurements that i was able to get: Current Tires are Karrier S-Trail Load Star ST145R12, Load Range E *Tire Diameter: approx. 21 inches *Tire Width: approx. 5 3/4 inches *Current Rims are 12 inch, with a 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern. Pilot hole diameter is 2 3/4 inches. Clearances: *Top of tire to top of wheel well is 8 inches. *Front and back of tire have 2 1/4 inches clearance from the front and back of wheel well. *Road side of tire to outer wheel well is about 1 1/2 inches. *Axle side of tire to inner wheel well is about 2 inches. Given this info and these measurements, can i safely move up to a 13 inch such as the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial? Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.,

A 13-inch tire will go about 3 inches higher than your current tire and will have a width of about 6.9 inches—a little over an inch larger than your current tire. We recommend leaving 4-1/2 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the trailer, so with 8 inches between your tire and wheel well, you'll still have plenty of space with the larger tire.

We have several options for Karrier ST175/80R13 tires. The largest load range available, a load range D, supports up to 1,610 lbs, so you'd be gaining load capacity with the new tire. The Karrier T175/80R13 radial # AM31985 you mentioned would be a great choice. For an upgraded option, I also recommend Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 13" Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D – Black, # AM32001HWTB. This model offers a durable, corrosion-resistant coat, improved clamp force (ICF) technology that helps keep the wheel in place, and a computer-generated tread design that provides superior traction in wet or dry conditions. It also comes with a 2-year tire warranty and a lifetime warranty against structural defects on the wheel.
