Replacement Trailer Wheels to Fit 215/85-16 Size Tires

Question:

I have 7.50-16 tires 6 lug on my trailer right now that are dry rot so I purchased 4 new tires with out rims due to money issues. The tires I bought where a great deal and they are brand new never used yet they are 215/85/16. I am now looking for rims to fit them and I dont have any idea what size I need. Could u help me?

First of all your tire size, 215/85-16 sounds like it's a passenger vehicle tire and not a trailer tire. Trailer tire sizes begin with "ST" for special trailer. I recommend using ST tires because they have a stiffer sidewall to handle the vertical load of a trailer. If your tires are trailer tires then you're good to go. But if they aren't I would get some trailer tires. The exception is that some LT tires can be used on trailers. Your 7.50-16's that you had were likely LT tires. LT stands for Light Truck. We do not carry this size.

Your old tires should have been on 6 inch wide rims. The new tires fit rims from 5-1/2 to 7 inches wide so if the old rims are good you can reuse them. If they're not then I recommend a 16 x 6 inch rim like the Dexstar # AM20741. It has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern which you need to make sure matches your trailer. It's a good quality, inexpensive wheel that fits your tires but you'll need to add a valve stem like # AM20906.
