What Size Wheel Has Weight Capacity of 3,000-Lbs or More For 6K Axle with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern

Question:

I have a home made car haul trailer with 6k axles with 6 lug 15inch rims. I want to buy rims that will support 3k weight each in the 15inch rim size. Will these do it? If they wont, what are your recommendations.

The highest weight capacity available for a 15 inch wheel with a 6 on 5-/12 inch bolt pattern is 2,830 lbs.

You will need to use a 16 inch wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern to get a wheel that has a 3,000-lb or higher weight capacity. I have the Dexstar Conventional 16 x 6 Steel Wheel, part # AM20758, that has a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a weight capacity of 3,040 lbs at 80 psi.

Also available is the Dexstar 16 x 6 White Spoke Steel Wheel, part # AM20741. This is a white spoke wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a weight capacity of 3,050 lbs at 90 psi.

You will need to make sure the extra height of a 16 inch tire will fit on your home made trailer. The height on a 15 inch trailer tire will be either 27.1 inches (ST205/75-15), or 28.4 inches (ST225/75-15). The height on the taller 16 inch trailer tire will be 30.9 inches for a ST235/80-16 tire size.

I am including a couple of links to FAQ pages on trailer tires.
