How High Will 31 Spare Sit When Mounted on Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier
Question:
OK nice product especially for us older guys. Has anyone used this carrier on the back of their pickup while hauling a fifth wheel trailer??? I figure the extendable leverage bar would not fully extend but thinking the tire should clear the fifth wheel forward fairing over truck bed. I see the retracted handle dimension is given BUT confusing. DO YOU KNOW what the height of a 31 inch diameter tire as mounted would be from the trucks receiver?? Due to price had to ask.

I test fit both the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195225 and the Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Tire (which has an outer diameter of 30.9") mounted on # AM20741 a 16" White Spoke Wheel and found that from the top of the shank on the carrier to the uppermost part of the tire measured about 43-3/4". This is just an inch higher than what the carrier measures with the handle in the retracted position (see attached photo).
Please note that this carrier is designed for use with motorhome dually wheels that sit further out from the tire. If you plan on using this for a tire that has a zero offset, like the Goodyear mentioned above, then you also need to use the Roadmaster Passenger Tire Adapter # RM-195225-95.
