Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Exact fit for what I was looking for. This rim matches the old 1980’s mobile home rims for a trailer build project I’m working on. Zero complaints with the rim, fast shipping, good customer service. I had to take one star off because of the price. Price gouging at $xxx a rim! Crazy.

by:

I found this to be very user-friendly very simple, very reliable very good

by:

As described, fast delivery and no special fees to get in Qc Canada, will do business again !!!

by:

I needed a spare tire for my flatbed trailer but it takes an outdated wheel - the Dexstar 4 hole. No one else seems to have it because it was popular in the 1980s but not anymore. I am so thankful etrailer had what I needed. Ordering was easy and customer service was great when I had questions. Delivery was fast and reliable.

by:

I have never seen a rim like this, but go figure ETrailer had what I needed for our 1971 Red Dale camping trailer. We just needed a spare and knew we would be in a lot of trouble on the side of the road with a simple flat and no spare. Your not just gonna run down to the local tire shop and find this rim. Thank you again ETrailer, you saved my bacon again, oh yea Lori is on her game. Thank you young lady.

by:

This wheel is exactly what I needed, and fits the trailer perfect. It was a tough wheel to find, and etrailer provided great service helping to make sure it would fit my trailer. Excellent service - A+

by:

Perfect replacement for the wheel on our 1968 Prowler that I foolishly lost off the back of my flatbed truck. Thanks for getting us back on the road, etrailer!

by:

The rims I ordered fit perfectly and were exactly what I wanted. It took a lot less time than I expected to get them. The agent I spoke with was very polite and helpful.
I will recommend etrailer.com to my friends.

by:

I have a 1977 Prowler 20 double axle trailer. what would be the proper wheel and tire for a spare?

Patrick B.

1/3/2014

To determine that, we need to what tires and wheels are currently on the trailer. The tire size will be on the sidewall of the tire and that will provide most of the information. The only other bit we would need, would be the GVWR, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, and the bolt pattern of the wheel. GVWR will be on the plate or engraving that indicates the other trailer capacities, usually it is on the frame close to the coupler. Bolt pattern will require some measuring, but I have linked to an article that will walk you through that procedure.

by:

Great service wheel arrived ahead of schedule and was exactly what I expected. Will use again thank you.

Excellent rim. Put a tire on it and havent needed to use it yet. It was bought so we would have a spare in case of a flat tire.

Best customer service, perfect quality, and I got it right on time. 100% recommended

by:

Excellent delivery time

by:

Shipping was right on time, rim I ordered was exactly right and damage free. Will shop here again

by:

Availability and speed of delivery was excellent

  • Possible Replacement Rim for 1971 Go Tag Along Trailer with Vintage 4 Bolt Wheel
If you measure the distance between the 4 mounting bolts of the wheel you have and you find that they are separated by 9.44 inches on center then the Dexstar Vintage steel wheel part # AM20395 will fit and work well. I attached a review video for more info on this as well.

  • 205/75-15 Tire Recommendation to Go Along with Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel # AM20395
We don't have a package that has the wheel part # AM20395 mounted to a tire but we do have them separately so that you can have them mounted local to you. For a tire we have the part # TR20515D which would work well as it is a 205/75R15.

  • Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel Recommendation as a Spare for a 1978 Winnebago Tag Along Trailer
I would recommend you get a Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel w/ 5 mm Offset # AM20395, this rim is 5 inches wide which is a little thinner than your current wheels that are on your 1978 Winnebago Travel Trailer. If you need a tire as well I would recommend a Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10244 for a load range C or # TR20515D for a load range D. I attached an FAQ article on trailer tires for you to check out.

  • Spare Wheel & Tire For 4 Bolts On 9.44 & 7.00x15lt Tire
Since your tires are 7.00X15LT, the "15" in that tire size means that they are on 15 inch rims. If you need it I have articles attached that explain how to measure a trailer tire and wheel. When you measure make sure you're measuring inside to inside at the tire bead seat. The same with the width, inside to inside because what you're measuring on the dimensions is where the tire is seated. I also have videos attached that show(s) how to measure a tire and wheel. We don't have the 7.00-15LT...

Thanks for the picture! Based on the picture you sent in the Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel w/ +5 mm Offset - 15" x 5" Rim - 4 on 9.44 - Silver # AM20395 you were looking at is the correct replacement wheel for your 1988 Kit Companion Model 251 5th wheel trailer. You can confirm this by measuring your bolt pattern following the included help article. As long as you get 9.44", which I believe you will, this will be correct. The Dexstar Vintage Steel Wheel w/ +5 mm Offset - 15" x 5" Rim - 4 on 9.44 - Silver # AM20395 will only fit hubs with 4 bolts. Your 4 bolts should be a little short of the 6-1/2 inches apart...I believe around 6-3/8 inches. These will work for you if you have that style hub. If I misunderstood and you have a 6 bolt pattern then I recommend the old style Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel w/ +0.5" Offset - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Black # AM20766 which works with the baby moon caps...

That means that there are 4 bolt holes and they measure 9.44 inches from the center of one to the center of the hole across from it. It is also 15 inches in diameter so it may not be the correct wheel for your 1984 Prowler. • What Bolts are Needed to Mount Dexstar Vintage Trailer Wheel # AM20395
The Dexstar Vintage Wheel you mentioned, part # AM20395 is typically lug-centric, which means that it would mount to a hub that has wheel studs and would use lug nuts, not lug bolts. The wheel usually goes on a hub like part # 8-174-5UC3, which also uses clamps to join the hub to the rim. If for some reason your existing hubs use lug bolts, you'd need to determine the length and diameter of the bolt needed as well as the thread pitch of the bolt.
