Right fit for 09 Toyota Rav4. Excellent quality and packaging. Arrived fast, best price online.
The wiring harness was relatively easy to install.
The vedio on the site is really helpful. Running the positive line to the battery was the hardest, all wheel drive rav4 is very tight in the back. I had to ran the wire mostly by the breakline.

I am very happy with my trailer hitch receiver from etrailer. I installed one on my 2011 Toyota rav4 for towing a small teardrop trailer I made during the pandemic. I also purchased a wiring harness to power the trailer lights from etrailer and after some doing have it working well. The cost of doing it myself was a small fraction of having the dealership do the work. The hitch receiver is easy to install as there are pre drilled holes to receive bolts in the frame. The wiring is a bit more complicated but I did it. God bless online videos. I'm happy with the results.

Still working great

by:
2018 Toyota RAV4

The hitch receiver came in a sturdy oversized box containing no padding to secure the hitch, possibly explaining the two large holes in the box. There was no immediately visible damage to the hitch but when I measured the distance between the mounting flanges at the forward and rear corresponding edges there was about 1/2 inch difference, suggesting that they were bent presumably during shipping. Fortunately, I was able to mount it to my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid Limited without the need to bend anything. The installation went pretty smoothly except for some fiddling to disconnect the muffler hanger, and I broke two of the plastic fittings that hold a plastic panel in place over the driver side mounting area. I replaced the plastic fittings with some bolts and nuts so no worries. This was a 1-man install job which I accomplished by using a floor jack to raise the hitch into position. Shipping was super fast! I received it the day after I ordered it. All in all I think I will be really happy with this purchase.

Serves the purpose for which I purchased this - to hold my bike rack. Still looks like new, no rust or scratches.

I choose etrailer based on great prior reviews, price, and vast selections. While watching a few of their YouTube videos that were very specific and informative in how to install my hitch, I felt confident in their product and customer service quality. I choose standard shipping and it was I received it that week. Very fast! Upon inspection I was surprised how mint condition it was I say that because it there wasn’t really much protection in the box protecting the hitch. I’ve worked for a major shipping company and boxes are thrown around in transport, especially when it comes off the main truck and hits the warehouse conveyor belt system. It’s not malicious, it’s just part of how it’s done. That being said, there wasn’t a mark on it. Great powder coat all around. Came with all well made hardware and directions That were easy to follow. I actually was able to install it myself in less than 30 min. Don’t pay to have someone install it. Just ask a neighbor or a family member to help. All you really need help with or just someone to hold one side up when you lift it in in mine I was even able to just balance it with one of my legs while I have the other side because it wasn’t a huge hitch. Really impressed with it and very happy and would definitely order from them again

No rust and performs like day 1

2013 Toyota RAV4

Super easy install. I had to use a 12mm tap to clean out years of rust from inside the frame threads that received the hitch bolts. Other than this hiccup the process went smooth. Easy ordering and great customer support.

2018 Toyota RAV4

The package came fully opened on top and the item Curt C13149 got all this chip all over it. The shiny topcoat is almost worn out. I'm thinking of returning this since this item looks like used already although the bolts are not.

2018 Toyota RAV4

This is my 3rd hitch from Etrailer and all have been absolutely fantastic! Instructions are super clear and there’s always a video on the install with each hitch for the visual questions.
My only complaint that was consistent for all 3 hitches was the packaging. They all came with some part of the mounting exposed outside of the box. Unsure if packer or shipper issue. Been lucky no damage to anything but was mildly frustrated seeing the hitch exposed.

I’m a welder by trade of 40 years so the first thing I noticed was how well the welds were. They were burned in hot and smooth with no cold lap, undercut and weld spatter. Installation was easy enough that I was able to do it by myself. I would highly recommend this product.

Easy peasy....everything was exactly as stated. From ease of directions to follow to the actual installation. Great and fair price.
Hard to find companies that put out such things anymore. My hat is off to you all at etrailer!!

The hitch arrived quickly, in just a matter of a couple of days. The written and video instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was able to install the hitch in less than 30 minutes by myself. I used my motorcycle lift to hold it level at the correct height and bolted it in place without ANY problems. The hitch was purchased to mount my bike rack; as you can see, everything worked out without "a hitch"!

From date of order to delivery at our doorstep, the service was excellent! We originally ordered this part from a local business and were notified after the hitch was to arrive that it was backordered. We needed it for a trip we were taking and found etrailer online. Ordered the part, it shipped the next day and arrived exactly when it said it would. This experience not only saved our vacation plans, but was a very smooth process. Installation took 30 minutes using the tools that were listed on the easy to follow instruction sheets! The hitch is of solid construction and looks great on our RAV4!

We bought the etrailer hitch for our Rav4 so we could use our hitch mounted bike rack. The hitch was easy to install and has worked out great! It was designed for our vehicle and I almost forget that the part is after market. Would definitely recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch

I recently installed the Curt 2" trailer on my 2013 Rav4 XLE awd. The quality and shipping was OUTSTANDING. Shipping was quick, took about 4 business days "thank you Christopher N." Installation was about 30 min's "one person installation" using a jack:) The hitch is pretty solid and will more than do the job for my usage of holding Mountain/bmx bikes. ETrailer made this transaction really easy. Will definitely be my go to auto trailer supply shop. Thank you thank you.

Cheaper then going to a car shop and very easy to install. I have been using it ever since I installed it. I used it to haul small things and my 4 bikes on my bike rack with my RAV4. Highly recommended hitch. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Thanks eTrailer for a quality product at a reasonable price.

I am happy with the quality and purchase. I have been using it ever since I bought them. Your product has meet all my expectation and it was really easy to install. It also save me about three hundred dollars, if I had some one buy the part and installed it for me. Thanks

by:

Super easy install even without a lift. It was a little tight on one side so I had to get a pry bar and a hand from the neighbor to get it flexed to line up the holes but not a huge deal. Hitch has held up very well being on the vehicle for a year. I keep a bike rack in it continually. No complaints.

Bought this for my son's 2017 Toyota RAV4 XLE AWD Hybrid, and now for my 2018 Toyota RAV4 SE AWD Hybrid. Both installations were a breeze. Have yet to determine whether the Tekonsha T-One wiring harness is similarly easy.

The wiring harness worked flawlessly, especially with the hybrid battery being in the back end. Prying the trim out of the way and releasing the wiring clips, however, was a pain. Far harder than the video makes it look. Two people - one to hold the trim out, and one to manipulate the plugs - works far better. The overall setup is great for both my son and me.

Toyota RAV4

I had a 6 month new, Toyota RAV4 when I purchased and installed receiver and wiring. Being a new vehicle, the mechanical installation was clean and easy. The instructions were clear, the bolts I had to remove came right out with no issue. The wiring was generally straight forward but the instructions provided are completely inadequate. Fortunately, there is a lot of instruction on the install videos. Even with that, it was hard to imagine ripping an almost new vehicle’s interior apart.

The actual process of connecting the wiring kit into the car’s wiring was pretty straight forward, it was getting at the wires that was not explained well. The video made that clear and the procedure was actually rather easy. Just hard to imagine without a video example.

I live in the upper Midwest and winters are cold, snowy and a salty environment for a vehicle’s undercarriage. All the recommendations on the web routed the power wire under the vehicle long the frame. I should note, in a the old days, brake lights did not need to be separately powered but instead used the tail light signals to power the trailer lights. There are a handful of reasons why this has changed and the contemporary systems are a lot more technically complicated than those of the past. The new systems have the disadvantage of needing a separate power and ground (frame) connection (the power wire to the battery at the engine compartment). These new systems have the advantage, however, of reliability.

Once the back portion of the interior was pulled apart (it all went together quite easily with no problems) finding a path for the wiring to the front of the cabin was quite easily done. Much better and easier than routing via the outside.

The only challenge was finding a path through the firewall for the wire to reach the engine compartment and the battery. This was done by using an existing hole near the accelerator (gas) pedal.

In the end, the installation went well and works great at a great price with great support. Details of the wiring install needs to be mbetter documented and I would absolutely NOT run the power wire to the battery, outside the vehicle. Running it inside is much easier and far more secure, even in a warm climate environment. It just needs better explanation.

The only other “thing” was that the trailer wire hides in the spare tire ompartment when not used (most of the time) and is easily pulled out and reaches the trailer connection through the gasket seal on the closed hatch. While this might seem a bit “crude,” has actually turned out to be a pretty good method. The connector sits dry and safe when not in use and is easily routed throw the closed hatch, without any stress or damage to the wire or hatch seal, to the trailer.

We purchased a trailer hitch for our 2015 RAV4 to pull a medium trailer with kayaks on it. It worked beyond our expectations! It was a quick bolt on for my husband and teenage son and actually was strong enough to pull a full size 4 wheeler for a short way (I think the hitch was stronger than the car!). Delivery was timely (especially since we were in the midst of the pandemic). We have actually just purchased racks for another car and are buying from etrailer because we were so pleased with their integrity last year.

I use the hitch to transport my bike to go fishing 3 or 4 times per week. It is easy to attach the bike rack and quick to load and enlist the bike. It helps keep me young!

by:
2014 Toyota RAV4

I bought and installed the etrailer hitch a year ago. It was the first step in my stealth boat buying plan. The install went very easily. I did have to use a jack to spread the arms about 1/4 inch to get the holes to line up, but after that the install went very smoothly. I've had no problems with the hitch, which i use several times a month to take the boat out.

by:
2011 Toyota RAV4

The hitch receiver is great so far! I got it for the Thule Apex 4 bike rack but have not yet used it for that reason. The bike rack was tested by putting it on. It fits and has enough clearance from the spare tire on the back.

The installation on our 2011 Toyota Rav4 went pretty smoothly. It would have been easier if I lowered the tailpipe, but I was able to install without doing so. Installing it with an extra set of hands would have made it much easier, but I was able to install it by myself. I used bricks to elevate the hitch enough to install the bolts. Torquing the bolt to the correct ft-lb was very easy for the bolts on the driver's side of the vehicle, but a little more difficult on the passenger's side.

Overall a good product, and I am looking forward to testing it with the bike rack fully loaded very soon.

Toyota RAV4

Exactly what I was hoping for. Needed a 2" receiver since all my devices are 2" (platform and a Yakima bike carrier). I was considering the draw-tite and this Curt receiver. I wanted the most unobtrusive hitch I could get for a RAV4. I didn't want something large and bulky hanging down. While the draw-tite had a bit more weight capacity and was a few dollars less, the Curt certainly satisfies what I wanted. I included a few pics for anyone with the same concern about a bulky hitch on a small vehicle. Very pleased with the overall appearance. I can't speak to whether the draw-tite would have been more evident or not.

Installation was simple and quick, easily a one person job and the instructions were thorough and accurate.

Shipping was QUICK, actually too quick as I ordered late in a Sunday night and was notified early Monday that the hitch had shipped and was scheduled for a Wednesday delivery (day before Thanksgiving). Since I was out of town, I had UPS ahold and deliver on Friday.

Excellent communication ad follow-up from etrailer. Very happy with the price, product and service.

Got this to hook up on my 2015 Toyota Rav4 so I could then hook up a hitch bike rack. Works great! I’ve had it for a year now - have traveled from Maryland to Michigan and back with the bikes on the hitch, no problems.

by:
2010 Toyota RAV4

The framing and black coat of the Curt trailer hitch give it a look that's rugged, stylish and protective. The holes in the hitch lined up perfectly with the frame's bolt holes, so no drilling and no fuss. I ordered the 13149 because it accepts up to 525 pounds of tongue weight. This works well for my bike rack; something I often load with four bikes. Driving over bumps in the road makes a loaded rack bounce; seeing it from the driver's seat can be disconcerting. The 13149 may be excessive for carrying bikes (180 total pounds, 4 bikes and bike rack), but its ability to handle 525 pounds of tongue weight gives me peace of mind.

2017 Toyota RAV4

Ultimately, this receiver fit our 2017 RAV4 XLE AWH Hybrid perfectly, and was easy to install Instructional video was perfect. However, etrailer.com's packaging leaves much to be desired. The first receiver showed up with one side bent at roughly a 15o angle and the paint cracked on the outside of the bend. God knows how much force it took to do this, but the box had a gaping hole and was crushed where the damage occured. Etrailer.com was very good, in that they sent a new receiver even before I got the UPS shipping label to return the damaged one. The second was perfectly straight, but the flanges had cut through the corner edges of the box. A little styrofoam at the ends of the box would go a long ways to protect the receiver. I've read at least one other review where this receiver was bent on delivery. A little more expense on the packaging would cut down on RMA wastage.

  • 2018 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid Hitch that Requires the Least Amount of Modifications to the Vehicle
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13149 is what I recommend for your 2018 Toyota Rav-4. It like all of the hitches for your Rav-4 does require trimming but only on the under body panel and not the actual body of the vehicle causing any changes to the vehicles appearance. Check out the attached video that will show the exact process for you to check out. It is a very easy hitch to install and remove when you need to.
