Purchased this item before. Great price and wonderful shipping. Will purchase from Etrailer in near future.

This was my first first order with etrailer and found them to be very good to work with. I had questions along the way which were handled expeditiously and resulted in ordering the right parts, which were a perfect fit with my old trailer. Product packaging was fine and the turnaround was fast.
If I was to offer a suggestion, it would be to include some instructions regarding proper lubrication techniques - location and type of lube they'd recommend.

Michael, you could lubricate the bushings if you want to with a multi-purpose grease, but the nylon bushings dont necessarily require lubrication, so there isnt a particular technique. We offer wet bolts that have a grease zerk on them to pump grease through, but other than that, the nylon bushings are designed to provide smooth operation until they wear down to a point where they should be replaced.

The parts I bought from you to repair the suspension on our livestocktrailer did the trick of getting it roadworthy. We dont use it often, butthe couple times weve had it on the road since the repairs have beenuneventful and thats a good thing when you have a couple tons of beef onit.

Fast dependable quality parts

by:

Came in good shape and was what I order ed

by:

The trailer leaf spring kit was exactly the right fit for my trailer and has put us safely back on the road. etrailer helped me pick the right size and understand the options. What I received was a match for my need as my parts were completely trashed. This kit along with the bushings/sleeves made the repair quick and easy at a great price. I am glad that etrailer has knowledgeable folks available to talk through questions and take the guess work out of the purchase.

by:

fit great no problems, seems to be a good quality product, will be able to tell in 10 K miles

by:

Hi George,
The trailer axel hanger kit
that I purchased from you folks worked great!
The bushings were shot in the old ones and the new kit installed easily and solved the problem. Trailer tows like a dream. I will do business with you again if I need parts!
Thank You

Would rate negative if possible. Ordered parts for 4 day delivery found out that parts were delivered to another State and it would take 8 business days for the inquiry to be processed then another week for original package or new one to be sent out. To top it off a refund would also take the same time period. etrailer has put my company in a tough spot without these parts or a refund while claiming that’s the best they can do.

by:

Bought and installed this rebuild kit on a 10 ft. horse trailer turned utility nearly a year ago. Trailer still pulls and rides like brand new after being abused almost daily.
Very pleased with the quality of parts included, and the detailed measurements given in the product descriptions. etrailer is where I will continue to look first for parts.

by:

My tandem axle equalizer kit, is of the highest quality. All the parts and hardware well made and will last for years to come. The combination of the knurled bolts and locking nut give me the piece of mind, that none of the hardware will back out and come off, on the highway. I would highly recommend this kit.

by:

These were an exact replacement for my old trailer and have performed well the past year!

They are still performing but are very rusty. I should have put my own paint on them to prolong their life.

by:

They work excellent! The trailer is so much tighter.
When it is empty, you can't even feel it behind me. Except the noise from the ramps.
I also have to thank my buddy Rob, he put a lot of time and labor into getting the trailer in like new condition.
Sorry don't have photos at the moment.

by:

I bought a shackle kit for my car trailer and everything fit absolutely perfect. Super easy to install. I would buy another if I ever need one.

by:

The diagram that is shown below has incorrect dimensions. After all the hangers were mocked up as the given dimensions show the axle center to center distance was 29" not 30". I actually over looked double checking the center to center measurement and had to cut the center and back hangers off and will be moving them.

by:

Fast efficient service, delivery and co st.

by:

Re did my pontoon trailer and it is nice to know they are good for another 30 years of service.

by:

Seems to be quality stuff, Installed it and seems to work well. I will be a repeat customer due to the customer service, which has to be the best of any online retailer!! Thanks again etrailer I will be back as I do lots of hauling and my trailers require frequent maintenance.

  • Equalizer Dimensions and Shackle Strap Thickness for Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit
The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APT3 comes with the Curved Equalizer for 1-3/4" Wide Double-Eye Springs part # TREQE1 which measures 7-3/4" long from the center of the lower two holes and 3-3/16" from the center of the lower two holes to the center of the top hole. • How to Decide Which Tandem Axle Trailer Hanger Kit to Use
Typically when building a tandem axle trailer I recommend using either the # APT3 or # APT5 Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit. These are the most common kits used for utility trailers and parts are readily available. The # APT5 kit is by far the most common because all the hangers are the same height and provide good tire clearance. There are a lot of variables when selecting a hanger kit. First you should select a kit that will accommodate the wheel and tire combination you are using. The...

If your springs are currently under the axles on your trailer, you can use what is called an over under conversion kit, # K71-385-00. This kit will allow you to move the springs to the top of the axle. For tandem axles, you would need 2 kits. They only fit 3 inch diameter axles. This kit will eliminate the need for welding new spring seats on top of the axle. I have included a link to a picture of what the new set up will look like. When lifting the trailer even just a few inches, it...

  • Will Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit # APT5 Fit a Trailer with 2-3/8 Inch Diameter Axle
You can use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT5 for your trailer with the 2-3/8 inch axle. A 2-3/8 inch diameter axle is typically found on 3,500 pound axles which is within the range of this kit (2,000 to 7,000 pound axles). The measurements in the chart on the page can be used as a guide. A better option for a 2-3/8 inch axle is kit # APT3, # AP233-H248, or # APT1. It all depends on the axle spacing, spring measurements, and equalizer length.

  • Trailer Suspension Kit Recommendation for Tandem Trailer Similar to APT5 but With 4.25 inch Hangers
Since we don't have the exact kit you need you'd have to piece the kit together that you need. For hangers you'd want the pat # E4139 which is 4-1/4 inches tall like you mentioned needing. For 2-1/4 inch long shackle straps you'd then want the part # 18-11GALV. For the equalizers # TREQE1. And then for bolts # 126B2.

You can convert a single axle trailer to a tandem axle but it's more extensive than just putting the extra axle on there. The current axle does need to be repositioned for proper tongue weight. • Why Do Trailer Hanger/Equalizer Kits all Use Different Height Suspension Hangers
When the suspension hangers, equalizers, and shackles are installed from a kit like the part # APT3 the goal is to have the leaf spring as level as possible. The different height hangers is offset by the height of the equalizer and shackles so that when it's all said and down everything is at a level height. Check out the picture I attached of a kit like this installed to get an idea. The great thing about these kits is that the correct height of everything is already all worked out.

  • What Is The Purpose Of Steel band On Leaf Springs
The leaf springs are normally installed with the band forward of the axle, but it is not something that has to be done that way. The steel band is called the rebound clip. Their main purpose is to help keep the main leaf from breaking on a rebound. When the weight of a vehicle or trailer is on the spring, all of the leaves work together to support the spring above them. If the wheel drops for any reason the total weight of the axle falls on the main leaf if there are no rebound clips....

The subtraction will be 1 inch from the front hanger to the center hanger and another 1 inch from the center hanger to the rear hanger. Both of those measurements should be roughly 28-1/2 inches if using hanger kit # APT3. Using u-bolts for 3 inch diameter trailer axles is not a good idea on an axle that is 2-3/4 inches in diameter.
