Hanger Spacing for 3,500 Pound Axle Leaf Spring # e59SR on Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

im building a channel frame tandem sliding axle the springs i have closest match e59SR at 23 1/8 and none of the charts show hanger spacing for this length spring my idea is subtract the difference 2inch from the 25 1/4 spring spacing unless you have a better idea my concern is wasted fuel and tire wear from scrubbing my next problem is i must like the issues that come with obsolete parts i have some old fayette axles and they measure 2 3/4 dia do u think the 3inch x 7inch pn APUBR-8 will have enough threads to tighten down on my 3 leaf springs without spacers ill have to wait for the spring seats to get here before i know total pack height thanks for any info ahead of time

I think your idea is right on the money. Take the information from the 25-1/4 inch spring hanger spacing and subtract 2 inches. The subtraction will be 1 inch from the front hanger to the center hanger and another 1 inch from the center hanger to the rear hanger. Both of those measurements should be roughly 28-1/2 inches if using hanger kit # APT3.

Using u-bolts for 3 inch diameter trailer axles is not a good idea on an axle that is 2-3/4 inches in diameter. It can allow for movement and throw everything off. If you still have the old u-bolts and plates I recommend using those if you can. We do not have any that fit 2-3/4 round axles.
