Optronics MCL76 Series LED Marker Clearance Light with Reflex Reflector Red Lens Diagram

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

Surface-Mount Light

Surface mount light

Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

P2-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Easy install / replacement of 16 yr old Peterson OEM incandescent marker lights (three center reds). Mounting holes matched perfectly. Bright and low amperage draw.

Working well, still pleased with them

by:

Great replacement perfect fit. Planning on doing the rest of my trailer

by:

Worked perfectly for what I was doing, looks good, and great light output. I am very impressed and would definitely recommend! Forgive the poor quality of the pictures.

by:

This appears to be a decent product, but the plastic mount sleeve surrounding the mounting screw tends to break off easily. One must be extremely careful to not over tighten. I have had 3 break on me rendering this rather expensive trailer light useless.

These are nice lights. I used a small washer longer screw to secure broken mounting sleeve. Make sure your mounting screws are long enough and don’t over tighten.

by:

All was good on the order except on red running light didn’t work. One had hairline crack.

by:

The light is very clear and bright. I have a amber lens and installed it on my 5th wheel as a mid ship turn signal. A great safety feature!! Sorry no picture right now the 5th wheel is in storage

by:

Great product for updating older trailer that came with standard lighting. No more burned out or moldy bulbs! Fits directly in existing holes and no rewiring required. Best price on the internet too.

by:

Replaced backend top markers on 5th wheel. Little brighter than old ones and more weather/dust tight. Just right brightness for back end. I did put clear silicone around inside connector just in case.

by:

Bought these lights to replace the old incandescent lights that corroded from water and dirt infiltration. They are much brighter than the incandescent lights they replaced. They are also the exact size and design of the ones they replaced.

by:

Perfect replacement for OEM lights!

by:

Always a pleasure doing business with e trailer

by:

  • Troubleshooting Running Lights not Working on Trailer
It sounds like your issue is definitely coming from a grounding issue. I would start by getting those wires cleaned up and re attached. I would suspect that there is part of that ground coming in contact with the running light circuit causing it to blow that fuse out. You can use LCD Digital Circuit Tester part # PTW2992 to find what wire is providing the running light signal on your trailer and inspect it and the ground to see where they are making contact. Or where they may be pinched...

  • Stray Voltage or Hot Skin and The Dangers of Miswired or Damaged Ground Wires on Campers
What you are experiencing is called Hot-Skin and it is extremely dangerous. Hot-Skin occurs when the ground wire on a Camper's shore power feed is interrupted somehow. That allows even normal leakage currents inside of a camper to create a stray voltage on the entire RV, including its “skin,” chassis, wheels, hitch and tow vehicle. So whatever you're touching on the camper is hot and that's what's giving you that tingling feeling. Your leakage must be coming from a low voltage short because...

  • Replacements for 446A/R RV Clearance Lights
Although we don't offer a replacement lens or a clearance lamp assembly that fits those dimensions, we offer a 6 x 2 inch replacement LED clearance lamp, part # MCL76RB that would last up to 50 times longer than an incandescent lamp, would be much brighter and would only draw a fraction of the power that an incandescent lamp would. I've linked to a product description video for the lamp I recommended.

  • What Light Is Similar To the Peterson PM130
The closest replacement to the Peterson PM130 is the red lens # MCL76RB and the yellow lens being # MCL76AB. Both lights will use the existing mounting holes, so you don't have to drill additional holes. You can also get the foam gasket to prevent water from getting into the back of the light # A76GB. Below are review videos on the product.

Our best option for LED lights to replace your Peterson 130 style lights is the Rectangular LED Trailer Clearance Light, # MCL76AB for amber and # MCL76RB for red. These lights measure 5-13/16 inches long, 2 inches wide, 1-3/16 inches deep, and mounts on 4-13/16 inch centers.

  • Can 2 Pole Wring Connector Like PK12200 Be Used to Connect Trailer Side Marker Lights
You could indeed use a 2-pole connector like part # PK12200 to connect side marker lamps such as # MCL76RB. One lead would tie into the running lamp circuit, the other would ground to the trailer frame. Using a 2 pole connector would provide a quick disconnect that would allow you to quickly replaced a damaged lamp without needing to cut and splice anything. Using dielectric grease like # 11755 on your electrical connections is recommended to exclude moisture from the connection and to...

I have another option for you, but the Miro-Flex LED Trailer Clearance Light # OPT78FR you were looking at is not available with a red lens. I included a video review of the # MCL76RB for you to take a look at.

  • Recommended LED Lights To Replace Peterson PM130
To replace your Peterson PM130 side marker lights you'll want to use the LED # MCL76RB for red, and # MCL76AB for amber. • Finding A Proper Ground For LED Clearance Light # MCL76RB
Yes, but first you need to verify what that white wire attaches to in the panel. If that's the neutral which white wire normal indicates then they should absolutely NOT attach that to the frame. In an RV the ground goes to the frame, and neutrals go to their own bar. Attaching the neutral to the frame can allow power to travel through the RV frame and seriously hurt someone. If that is not the case you will have no issues squeezing in a lock nut in between the frame and the aluminum underbelly...

  • Installing Ground Wire on Trailer Lights
The LED Clearance or Side Marker Light w/ Reflector - Submersible - 4 Diode - Rectangle - Red Lens # MCL76RB is a clearance light and not a brake light. The clearance lights only have one power input and one ground, where tail lights will have a running light wire, a turn and brake combination wire, and a ground. Most of the time the ground wire goes from the trailer connector to the frame of the trailer and then each light also will ground to the frame. I recommend making sure the...

  • Replacing Peterson PM130 Incandescent Trailer Lights with LED Versions
I will be happy to help you find the right LED replacement lights for your horse trailer. Based on the information you have provided the amber LED replacement is # MCL76AB. The red version is # MCL76RB. Another option is to use Peterson lights # M353A and # M353R. Since lights can sometimes go through design changes the new lights may not have the exact same dimensions as the old lights so that would be why you see slight differences in the measurements between your old lights and these lights.

  • Alternate Ways to Install a Ground Wire
If you do not have the ability to install standard sheet metal screws, there are a couple things you can do. You can drill holes in the sheet metal for the bolts to go through. You would then use a lock washer and nut on the other side to secure everything. You could also weld the ground on, but this would not be the best solution as electronic components due end up needing to be replaced on occasion. The last option would be to run the ground wire to something that is already bolted...

  • LED Trailer Clearance Light Recommendation to Replace Peterson PM-130
Our best option for LED lights to replace your Peterson 130 style lights is the Rectangular LED Trailer Clearance Light, # MCL76AB for amber and # MCL76RB for red. These lights measure 5-13/16 inches long, 2 inches wide, 1-3/16 inches deep, and mounts on 4-13/16 inch centers. As for the ground wire, you will just need to run the ground wire on the light to a clean metal surface. Your current lights are designed to ground through the mounting hardware whereas these are not.

  • Should Trailer Ground Wire Ran to Frame be Sanded Down to Bare Metal
If the paint is thick it could prevent proper grounding but typically you don't have to sand off down to bare metal. If the trailer is aluminum framed then that would be an issue and would require running a jumper wire back to the main ground of the trailer wiring. You might try sanding down to bare metal to see if that helps. If you can spray clear coat over the ring terminal after the fact that would be most ideal.

If you are using wiring harness # 118552 on your 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan or really any wiring harness that has a powered converter that draws power from the vehicle battery then you should not have a problem with LED lights on a trailer or tester. But if you are using a wiring harness that draws all the power through the tail light wiring only then the vehicle wiring may not be rated for the additional power draw, even from LED lights (if there are enough of them). You will want to use a ring terminal on the ground wire. I have attached a link to our product page for the ring terminals we offer you can check out. • Can The Ground Wire For A Trailer Clearance Light Be Grounded Using The Mounting Screws
Yes, it's very typical to just use the mounting screws for a trailer light, like the Optronics # MCL76RB, to connect the ground wire to the frame of the trailer. You'll just want to ensure that the screw hole in the frame hasn't been painted over, blocking the connection to the frame.
