The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Optronix LED trailer clearance or side marker light. This rectangular light serves as either a side marker light or a clearance light for your trailer. It is sonically sealed, so it's waterproof when it comes to the housing and lens unit and it is submersible. The LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights. LEDs last longer, they burn brighter and they're much more efficient. With LEDs you don't have to worry about changing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments.
This light features a nice amber lens with the reflex reflexor built into it. And it's a polycarbonate construction, so it's very strong and durable. It's a surface mount installation so it mounts directly on the surface of your trailer. It does come with a foam gasket that can be used to create a weather tight seal.Mounting hardware for this unit's not included. I do want to point out that you will need a one and 3/8th inch diameter hole at the installation surface, that's for this area right here to sit in in order for the light to sit flush on your actual installation surface.
The two wire design provides your ground wire and your power wire. It is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant and it is a PT rated light.When it comes to the overall dimensions of the unit, the overall length measure about four and 7/16ths of an inch long. Top to bottom is about one and 5/87ths inches. And then the overall depth from very front to very back is about 7/8ths of an inch deep. The depth from the installation surface is about 3/8ths of an inch deep.The mount holes are separated on center by four inches and they have a diameter of 3/16ths of an inch.
And this light contains a total of three LEDs or three diodes. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power, that way you can see what it looks like with some power running to it. And then we'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting.So here you can see the light sends out a nice, consistent signal. It's a really nice design, again, three diodes, so the multi diode design really helps optimize the light output. Power draw at 12.8 volts, at 0.05 amps and Optronix puts a lifetime warranty on their LEDs.That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronix LED trailer clearance or side marker light..

Nice night output and perfect replacement size for the 195 bulb style originals that were there. These are going on a 1993 Newell coach.
The lights for our boat trailer arrived timely and they fit perfectly on the trailer. We have not put the boat into the water yet, so we are not sure about the "waterproof" of these new lights. We are hopeful they will be waterproof and last many years.

LED! Long Life, Bright Perfect!
The lights are working great. I had to modify the coach but that isn't the light's fault. These are sturdy reliable LED lights. I recommend them and I'm about to replace the rear red lamps with the corresponding red model.
Delivered in a timely fashion and it was exactly as portrayed in the ad.
These lights were exactly as advertised. They look great on the trailer and they're still working good after a year. I bought a few extra just to have as matching spares.

Our Boat trailer has been in the water a lot over the last year and the new trailer lights are working great- no water in the lights.
