Video Transcript for TruRyde Trailer Suspension - Leaf Spring Suspension - TREQ1304 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the equalizer for 2" wide slipper springs. This is going to connect the slipper springs on a dual axle or triple axle trailer. You slip the arched end of the front spring into the equalizer so that it rests on a keeper bolt that I would install on this part. Keeper bolt is sold separately. Then, you would attach the rearmost spring with a shackle bolt that's sold separately as well, that will go on this side through the eye. Then, the unit's going to suspend from a center hanger right through the center here.

Center hanger is sold separately. This unit's going to transfer the load and sudden impacts from one axle to another by permitting movement between the axles. It's going to distribute weight evenly and it results in a smooth ride for the trailer. It's constructed of a high quality 1/4" thick hot rolled steel. So, if you're concerned about corrosion and rust resistance, then you will need to add some type of finish to the unit. I would just recommend a corrosion resistant paint that can be added on and that would protect it pretty well. It does not include a center bushing, so you can see here that's just steel right there, so no center busing.

Again, this is designed for a 2" wide slipper leaf spring. The center bolt hole diameter is 7/8". The side bolt hole diameter for mounting the spring, that would be this right here, is 9/16" in diameter. The side bolt hole diameter for the keeper bolt, this side right here, is 3/8". Overall length of the unit measuring from edge to edge, that's going to measure 11". The height, that's going to be 3 1/2".

From the center of the 3/8" diameter hole to the center of the center hole, that's going to give us a measurement of around 5 3/8". From the center of the 9/16" diameter hole to the center of the center hole, that's going to be about 4 5/8". That's going to do it for today's look at the equalizer for 2" wide slipper springs.

I am sorry about that. Let me get you over to our customer service department for them to look into this more in-depth.

These fit perfectly on my triple axle Kaufman trailer where I replaced all 4 of them. I got some commercial quality spray paint and painted them black. I'll also include some pictures of my old ones that were original with the trailer. You can see they definitely needed to be replaced! I always use etrailer for my trailer parts. Everything is good quality, fits perfectly, and arrives on time.

by:

I'll have to modify these to fit an older trailer that the parts are no longer available for. ( Shorten them up and redrill the spring eye and retaining bolt holes.) But these will fit the ticket and be better than the originals when I'm done.

by:

Some 14K trailers use 11" equalizer slipper boxes, some use 12". The main issue is that the "V" piece on the slip end wears down allow the slipping spring to come out past the bottom keeper bolt. The 2nd problem is the welds for the center bolt sleeve break. Those welds are usually pretty minimal so check them before installing and add some weld to them if you want to.

Shipped to my door 3 days from ordering. Perfect fitment for my trailer which got me back rolling

by:

Nicely made, fit fine, though the pivot tube could have been welded up with more filler metal. I welded it some more myself and I am satisfied.

  • Replacement Slipper Spring Equalizer for Kaufman Triple Axle Trailer
It looks like you need the Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs part # TREQ1304 which should be an exact match for your existing equalizer. It is designed for 2" wide slipper springs and measures 11" long overall.

  • What Torque is Needed for Bolts on Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs
When installing an equalizer like the Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs - 11" Long - 7/8" Center Hole # TREQ1304 there is no specific torque setting for the bolts. The correct installation process is to tighten the eye bolts until snug and then back them off slightly.

  • Does Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs # TREQ1304 Come with Bushing
You will want a center bushing for the center hole of the hanger part # TREQ1304 that you referenced. We have # TRBU11508 which has a 7/8 inch outer diameter and 1-3/4 inches long but with a 1/2 inch inner diameter. The bolt on the slipper side does not need a bushing but the side that is designed for a spring eye does need a bushing. Most likely the spring has a bushing.

  • Is there a Center Bushing for Equalizer TREQ1304
The center hole for equalizer # TREQ1304 is 7/8 inches in diameter. The closest match we have to a bushing that will reduce that is # TRBU11568 which has a 7/8 inch outer diameter and 9/16 inch inner diameter. But it is 1-3/4 inches long so it will come up short. If possible you could just use a 7/8 inch wet bolt, # TRFA71063, provided that the hanger mounting hole is large enough or can be bored out to 7/8 inches safely.

  • Does Trailer Suspension Equalizer TREQ1304 Require Bushings
The large center hole on equalizer # TREQ1304 should be 7/8 inches in diameter. I checked your order and the equalizer bushings you bought were # TRBU13871. These have a 7/8 inch INNER diameter but the outer diameter is 1-1/8 inches which is why they will not fit. You can use bushings that have an outer diameter of 7/8 inches. We have # TRBU11568 but it is 1-3/4 inches long which is 1/4 inch shorter than the width of the equalizer. It has an inner diameter of 9/16 inches. We also have...
