Slipper springs are pretty common on tandem axle trailers with heavy duty axles like yours, and I recommend sticking with them as there are limited double eye springs for axles 5200lb+ like yours.

The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs - 13-1/8" Long Equalizers # AP216-H238 you were looking at are a great choice as it includes 5" tall front hangers, 6-3/8" tall rear hangers, and 13-1/8" long equalizers that attach to 4-1/2" tall center hangers so it will be very close to the same as the hangers you removed.

For the correct springs you will need to know the axle rating of your axle. Since you mentioned it is 3" in diameter it is a 5200lb-7000lb so you will need on of the following springs:

5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles - 26-5/8" Long # e74SR for 7000lb axles

5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles - 27" Long # e67SR for 6000lb axles

Going with to highly rated of a spring will lead to a rougher ride, so it is best to match the spring to the axle capacity as closely as possible.

Lastly you will need two of the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 7" Long U-Bolts # APUBR-8 to mount the springs to the axles.
