Which Grease Cap for AKIHUB-545-35-K 3500 lb Idler Hub Assembly
Question:
I called Mid America Trailer to verify the diameter of the grease cap that I need to fit the easy lube hub. They told me a 1.990 Thats what I purchased, but when I went to put it in, it is too tight. I measured the hub bore to be 1.978 give or take a few thousand.

The # AKIHUB-545-35-K hub you mentioned uses a 1.980 OD grease cap like # RG04-040. The caps are designed to fit tightly, so they are a little tricky to install the first time. I like to use a small block of wood placed across the face of the cap, then use a hammer to tap it into place.
