Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Today we'll be reviewing part number RR2K. This is the Brophy D-ring anchor with backing plate and hardware. It's made from a steel construction with a zinc plated finish. The D-ring anchor is going to provide a good tie down point in your utility trailer or truck bed. Makes this perfect for securing a rope, cargo nets, bungee cords, or ratchet straps. Those are all sold separately.
You have two mounting options when it comes to using this anchor point. You can surface mount. When choosing that option it does not require that you cut a hole in your trailer or truck bed and you can use the rubber sealed gasket to get that nice, tight fit. You can do a recess mounting option that's going to actually help prevent the D-ring for interfering as you roll cargo in and out of your trailer or truck bed. All you need to do is just cut a small hole that's the diameter of the recessed portion here and it'll sit right in there and then the backing plate reinforces the structure of your utility trailer and goes on the opposite side of the mounting surface. The plastic gasket is there to create that seal to help protect from allowing in dirt and water from the D-ring when it's surface mounted.
It's also going to help reduce corrosion and oxidation of the D-ring. Again, it does have that nice zinc plated steel, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. It's a bolt on installation, so it comes with two bolts, two lock washers, and two nuts. For a recessed mount, all you need to do is cut that hole in your trailer or truck bed for the recessed portion of the D-ring. The backing plate attaches directly under the D-ring anchor and on the opposite side of the mounting surface. The system has a maximum load or break strength of 800 lbs with a safe working load limit of 265 lbs.
Has the two mounting holes here in the center of the back plate that you would use to secure the D-ring to. The plate is going to measure 6" by 6 1/2". You can also see here that the D-ring is actually a triangular shape and it lays flat when not in use so that way it will stay out of the way. You have two mounting options there, or two pre-drilled mounting holes. When we measure the distance from center to center of those holes, it's going to give us a measurement of 1 1/8". The D-ring mount with the gasket on there is going to measure 4" in diameter.
The recessed portion is going to measure 1/4" in depth and it's going to measure about 3" in width or diameter of that recessed area. If you cut a 3" hole, that should work out really well. You can also use the rubber gasket as a template to cut your hole if you need to. The D-ring thickness is going to measure 1/4" and if we do a measurement here at its widest point, the amount of room that we have to work with in between is right around 2". Items delivered sooner than expected, packaged well with all parts intact and no damage. Highly recommend this anchor tie downs for ATV or any items you want secured properly.
I have used these tie downs 1 time so far, but worked excellent. Absolutely no movement of my ATV.
This is a service review rather than a product review.
I initially bought the RR6K D-rings, not paying enough attention to size & weight rating. They turned out to be WAY too beefy for my application. After further review I determined that what I needed were the RR2K D-rings.
Cole at etrailer.com was great about helping me get my new D-rings ordered & getting me a UPS label for shipping the wrong ones back, even though this was my mistake & not theirs.
I will definitely do business with etrailer.com again due to Cole's excellent customer service.
By the way, everything showed up when promised & in great condition.
The website and service are second to none. Easy to install, these rings came just in time to anchor down deck furniture during the hurrincane which will strike tomorrow. Seems like a good product, far more than I needed but it will work well.
After 1 year of use, no issues. Holds down my ATV as it should. In fact, this tie down is twice as a good as the factory tie downs that came with the trailer!
These parts are good quality, and etrailer's expediting and shipping is always great. Always my first "go to" for trailer parts.
I haven't installed these yet but they seem to be of very good quality (very sturdy). The shipping was super fast. As always, etrailer.com is a pleasure to deal with.
