Can Lets Go Aero 63232 Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock Be Used With Draw-Tite 63080 QSP Hitch Silencer

Question:

We plan to buy the Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver Class III - 2 Item # 76074 and most of the time spent driving our vehicle the hitch receiver will not be used at all, so the hitch receiver opening will be exposed to the weather most of the time since the Draw-Tite does not include a hitch receiver cover. We live in Colorado where winter driving includes salt on the roads for snow and ice. We are concerned the hitch receiver 2” opening will rust after multiple years of driving with the salt on the roads if the hitch receiver opening is not covered, as we have seen numerous hitch receiver openings rusted on other vehicles while driving around town. We found on your website the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2 Hitch Receivers Item # 63080 that could protect the hitch receiver opening from rusting out if we close the cover whenever we are not using the hitch receiver to tow anything, which is most of the time driving. If we purchase the Draw-Tite hitch silencer and cover, is it necessary to also buy # 63232 that we originally also planned to buy before we discovered the hitch silencer and cover? Do both those products perform the same anti-rattle function so that we no longer need the anti-rattle to eliminate the rattling and lose connection between the hitch and the hitch receiver if we buy the Draw-Tite hitch silencer and cover instead? Or should we buy both of those to fully eliminate rattling/lose connection noise/problems? Thank you

The Draw-Tite QSP, part # 63080 is pretty effective but you could certainly use it in tandem with the # 63232 hitch lock/anti-rattle device. As far as the anti-rattle function, I'd say that the # 63232 would be much more effective than the QSP. If you used both together you'll get the anti-rattle function as well as the protection from the hitch cover from the QSP along with the ability to lock your hitch mounted accessories.

Because of the metal on metal friction caused by the draw bar or hitch mounted accessories, some corrosion is inevitable. You can reduce this by using a thin layer of grease on the shanks of your draw bars and hitch mounted accessories. Every fall, take a close look at your hitch and touch up any rust spots you see by sanding them down to bare metal and using a quality rust inhibiting paint like Rust Oleum.

I've linked to demonstration videos for the QSP and the # 63232 anti-rattle hitch lock..
