Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This receiver is by-far the strongest setup I've ever seen. Its really simple too. The end plates do not come attached to the receiver bar. The installation of the end plates involves either drilling the frame and installing bolts through the end plates, or welding the end plates directly to the frame. Then you slide the receiver bar through the end plate, slide it back through the other end plate, center it where you want it and weld the end plates to the receiver bar. The only thing I might find fault with is the end plates are not tall, so the application needs to be no more than 24-28 inches above ground level unless the end user intends to use a drop-hitch. Overall, it's the strongest hitch I've ever seen.

Fantastic! Its so strong Weve decided to add a spare tire mount and a spare that weighs about 100 lbs.

Thanks for the follow-up. Just a little word of caution, I am not sure how big the trailer that you are towing but please be aware that your spare tire mount and tire's 100 pounds would add to the tongue weight of this hitch, and you will want to make sure that you are within the 1,600 pounds of maximum tongue weight this is rated for.

Your packages were in bad shape, product fell out. The plates were well wrapped. UPS driver laughed at your big box, said its been loose since he received it. Not damaged but barely in the box. Might want to rethink how to ship the hitch. I worked USPS 37 yrs, wrapping and a sticker label works for larger items. Boxes always fail. Food for thought. Ty

The hitch I needed was not in stock but etrailer staff immediately contacted me about the situation and helped me find an alternative.
Hitch is fabricated is excellent. I would not hesitate to be a repeat customer.

Came as told it would and what I expect ed

Perfect

I used the cross tube to build my own custom hitch behind a hitch. This is a quality product and worked well for my custom build. Closest to my RV, in the main receiver, I carry my motorcycle. I used this to mount a bike rack behind the motorcycle carrier. For custom builds like this, the cross tube is a perfect product to build around. I mounted this to my support rails using grade 8 bolts, this way I can break it down easily and store it at camp or at home. The cross tube is quality steel and has good welds. Class V was more than I needed, but this was the best option for my project.

by:

Very solid and heavy duty. All of the parts were nicely painted. The only bummer was the way it was packaged. The large heavy parts were loosely placed in a poor quality box with a half ass tape job. The heavy box tune stuck out of the box. I am very happy with this product.

by:

Quinn was very helpful in finding the right hitch for my box truck
Also he researched everything and responded within 24 hours
Good job

by:

Bought this hitch for a custom application. WAY OVERKILL for what I needed but better to over engineer it than under. This baby is capable of towing 16000 lbs with a tongue weight of 1600 lbs. I will never tow more than the 5000 lbs my coach is rated for but I needed it to extend out and be a bit lower than the standard hitch to carry my KLR 650 on a rack which comes in at about 525 lbs.

by:

This is a tremendous hunk of steel, extremely well-made of high quality steel with perfect Welds. As you can see in the picture I customized this bar to fit right in the bumper. That is truly strong enough to be a bumper, Or even a crossmember to a custom vehicle. This is not a bolt up item. Be careful unless you're putting this on a large truck, The capabilities of this trailer hitch will generally far exceed that of your average vehicle. And of course etrailer is the best place to get it, good luck.

by:

Hitch came on time and was easy to install being a weld on hitch. Was a good choice for my flatbed as the truck has a frame extension on it from a service box which meant a factory type hitch was not a option. Looking forward to using it more and not having to worry about hitch failure.

by:

Great product. Welded it on an M923 military truck to be able to haul conventional trailers and with a receiver pintle hitch I can haul any military trailer, big or small.
Thanks.

by:

The product is awesome, but the order was shipped in complete. I was informed that a similar hitch receiver to what I originally ordered was in stock and ready to ship instead of waiting for the one that was ordered. Only $XX more, no biggie right? I got the brackets in a couple of days but NO cross bar. They shipped it out and by the time I got it, it was basically the same time frame as the original order would have taken and I spent $XX more. Not real happy with the shipping side of things with etrailer.

by:

This hitch is exactly what is needed for hauling something that requires a receiver hitch behind a class 8 tractor. I tow my Tracker behind the tractor to take it to service unhook, go home, and return to pick up finished repair. No more double trips.

by:

Great universal fit. Weld in was easy and it’s the perfect size for my Freightliner step van. Sturdy, well made product.

by:

Product was exactly what was needed for our unique application. Required very little modification to fit our fire truck. Thanks

by:

We fitted this to our 5 ton military truck and it worked well.

by:

etrailer's staff was very helpful in evaluating options for my situation. This hitch works perfectly with my Class C Motor home (RV)

by:

The hitch is well built. Having 4 wheel drive it gave me the flexablity I needed to mount to the front of my motorhome. I use to carry my cooler rack for surf fishing.

by:

Great receiver, easy install fast shipp ing.

by:

9 out of 10 times e-trailer gets it 100 percent right.

by:

This worked perfectly for my school bus.

by:

awesome quality and quick delivery during the holiday season nonetheless!

by:

I purchased a class c motor home and found out after the purchase that the trailer hitch was only for supporting a basket up to 150 lbs. I needed a REAL trailer hitch. Etrailer.com sent me a wonderful hitch - the fabricator that installed it was very pleased with it, it pulls my truck with no worries, it was a reasonable price and came within a week of ordering. I love it, just what I needed - Thank you

by:

The trailer hitch from eTrailer arrived quickly. It is a robust hitch with plenty of towing capacity. I have a GMC box truck and will be using it to tow a utility trailer from New York to Arizona. Tow hitches for box trucks are hard to find. This one has a tow capacity of 16,000 lbs. I am pleased with the quality of the unit. I will gladly recommend eTrailer to others.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit a 1996 Freightliner MT45
We do not carry a hitch designed specifically for your 1996 Freightliner MT45 but we do have some universal hitches that may work for you. The Draw-Tite # 41990-07 is a weld-on hitch that will fit frames up to 44 inches wide. Also, there's # 41991-07 for frames up to 62 inches wide. They both have a 7 inch bracket. We also have both available with a 16 inch bracket: # 41990-16 for the 44 inch and # 41991-16 for the 62 inch. All of them are rated up to 16,000 pounds and need to be welded...

  • Class IV or V Trailer Hitch for an RV Built on a Ford F-53 Chassis
The available trailer hitches designed for use on RVs are not rated high enough to be considered Class IV or V hitches. So what you will need is to install a heavy duty truck hitch. We have several options, see link, depending on the frame width on your RV. For example hitch # 41991-07 is a Class V weld-on hitch that fits a frame width up to 62 inches wide. Frame width is measured from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other. Any weld-on options should be installed by...

  • Recommended Heavy Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2006 Chevrolet Express Cutaway
For a heavy duty hitch for your 2006 Chevrolet Express 3500 Cutaway I recommend the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41991-07. The problem with using a hitch like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98861 is that it is designed for the cargo and passenger van, not the cutaway, so it has a small hitch drop in order to clear the factory bumper. The # 41991-07 has a weld on installation and will fit vehicles with frames up to 62" with...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 1997 Ford E-350 Passenger Bus
Good news, I can help you find a hitch that will fit your 1997 Ford E-350 Bus. The fact that this is a bus means that the cab is a Ford E-350 but the chassis is not the same as the standard van chassis. This means that you will need a bolt-on or weld-on hitch depending on your chassis' application, like Draw-Tite Class IV # 41991-16 or the same Draw-Tite hitch with shorter brackets # 41991-07. If you wanted to complete your towing setup you may also be interested in the Curt Hitch Pin...

  • Recommended Weld On Universal Fit Class 5 Trailer Hitch for BlueBird All American Bus Diesel Pusher
For your BlueBird School Bus conversion, there isn't a specific confirmed fit Class 5 trailer hitch receiver. The universal fit weld on hitch is your best option. The Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch # 15903 you asked from is a great option as is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41991-07. Both of these will have a 2 inch receiver opening. These hitches will need to be welded bare metal to metal for the correct strength....

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Rated for 7,500 Pounds for Class C RV on 2014 Ford E-350 Chassis
We do have some universal weld-on trailer hitch receivers that will have the capacity you need on your Class C Thor Chateau. If the RV's frame is 44 inches or less then you can use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41990-07. If you need a wider hitch we have # 41991-07 which will fit frames up to 62 inches wide. Both hitches are rated up to 16,000 pounds towing. You should check that the Thor is rated for at least 7,500 pounds because the hitch will not increase the RV's capacity.

  • How to Choose a Trailer Hitch for a Trailer
I may have an option that will work for you, however the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Class V Hitch, # 41947, is a custom fit hitch designed for full size pickup trucks. Frames on trailers are typically wider than frames on vehicles and the frame width can differ between trailer manufacturers. Because of this, trailer hitch manufacturers offer adjustable width trailer hitches. Unfortunately there are no custom fit trailer hitches for certain makes and models of trailers. The widest option we have a available for an RV hitch with 500 pounds tongue weight capacity is 51". It's the Curt Adjustable Width, part # C13701. We do have a hitch that can extend to the 59" (and further), but the tongue weight is 350 pounds. It's another Curt, part # 13703. I've linked to a video review of this hitch for your consideration. We do have some hitch solutions for you, but they'll need to be welded in place in order to install them, as none of the universal fit hitches we offer can be bolted on. What you'll need to go with is a universal-fit hitch designed for a service body truck, and in order to choose the correct one, you'll need to measure the needed drop, which is the vertical distance between the underside of the frame member and the lowest point of the rear bumper. I think I have a solution for you. If the frame measure 44 inches or less (outside to outside) then you could use weld-on hitch # 41990-07. Since this hitch is meant to be welded on, the installation will need to be performed by a qualified professional welder. The brackets that come with the hitch are 7 inches tall. If the frame is greater than 44 inches but less than 62 you could use weld-on hitch # 41991-07. Both of these hitches mentioned are higher capacity at 16k total trailer...

Any of the RV hitches available are going to require drilling with the exception of Curt hitch # 13703 but it, too, is rated for 3,500 pounds. What I recommend is to have a hitch welded on such as # 41990-07 which fits frame widths up to 44 inches or # 41991-07 that fits frame widths up to 62 inches. Frame width is measured outside to outside from one frame rail to the other. The hitches will need to be welded on by a professional welder for a nominal fee. The benefit is you will have...

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 14053 is a confirmed fit for the Ford Full Size Van but it is not a fit for a cab and chassis like you have which has a slightly wider frame. My recommendation due to the weight you will be towing is to use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41991-07. This is a weld on versus bolt on option, but all the bolt on options won't allow for the capacity you need.
