Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2000 Winnebago Itasca Spirit on Ford E-350 Chassis

Question:

Hi, I would like to buy a Class 4 hitch for my 2000 Winnebago Itasca Spirit 24 RV which is build on a Ford E350 Econoline Chassis, which has about 8000lb towing capacity with a few people on board. I plan to pull my 2015 Acura RDX 2WD on a tow dolly with surge brakes. Total weight is less than 6000lb, so Im assuming an 8000lb to 1000lb GTW should be ok. The frame extensions to the rear edge have bottom-side holes and are 39 inch apart, center-to-center. Im ok with some drilling, but in case it can be avoided, centered along each frame bottom there are 3 holes in a straight line, 1.5inch 5.5inch and 13.5inch from the rear edge of the frame. So, the spacing would be 4inch from first to second hole and 8inch from 2nd to 3rd hole center to center. It looks like CM-14053 would work - is this correct? Any other models to recommend, especially if they require less drilling? Much appreciated

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 14053 is a confirmed fit for the Ford Full Size Van but it is not a fit for a cab and chassis like you have which has a slightly wider frame. My recommendation due to the weight you will be towing is to use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41991-07. This is a weld on versus bolt on option, but all the bolt on options won't allow for the capacity you need.
