Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Install was straight forward and easy.
Fit
factory plugs perfectly.
I mounted the box behind the drivers tail light and since my van is a Ram CV, it doesn't have anything in the back, and I found a factory plug for the 3rd row entertainment system tucked in the quarter panel for the 12v power so I didn't even have to run a new power wire for it.

Made the wiring very easy. Quality connectors and wire.

Always has been good, quality products and very fast shipping. My favorite store for trailer parts.

After reviewing what must be a dozen different tow hitches I finally decided on this one for several reasons. First, its custom made for my application, which happens to be a 2011 Town n Country. But there are several years with this configuration. Unfortunately I was alone in my driveway to do this install. But because it was made just for my situation in went right in like it should. In fact all the holes lined up so perfectly I was able to hand tighten the screws back in. Too easy. They also provide how-to videos which are very useful. I bought the light package and it too was a no-brainer to hook up since they've taken most the work out of the struggle of figuring out what goes where. The only problem was in the UPS delivery where they had torn a large cash in the box and the instructions must've fell out in transit since there were none. etrailer's video says to reference those instructions for the correct torque. I wasn't worried tho' as I tightened them real tight and then welded to my satisfaction. And if, like me, you've ever had a hitch come loose out on the road you'll learn to tack those on after you've bolted them up. Either way this was a great fix for my application and I would do it again without hesitation. Good luck!

Its working exactly like it should. And really, when you buy a custom hitch made for your vehicle and follow up with a few welds there really is nothing to go wrong. If I get another vehicle and need another hitch I wont hesitate to get it here and I wont have to spend the usual two hours researching the market first.

2015 Dodge Grand Caravan

Great price and fast shipping THANKS

by:

Product arrived quickly and in good condition. Videos were very helpful. Would have given 5 stars, but 2 sided tape for wiring harness was useless. Pulled off the protective cover on both sides and neither side was sticky. Had a clear film that would not separate from the "tape".

by:
2018 Dodge Grand Caravan

Took literally 10 min to install the hitch and about 20 min to run the wires. Very easy and simple.

by:

Nice harness and it fit great! I only gave it 4 stars because of the cheap butt connectors that came with it, and the fact that the 2sided tape to hold the control unit up failed even before I was done hooking it up. I used heat shrink connectors I had, and a self tapper screw to mount the control unit to the inner tin. Other then that it’s a great well fitting harness. Unless your young and thin, your going to need it up in the air a bit to run the power wire. I’m neither and getting the left rear up on a jack stand gave me enough room.

Still working great. Worthy addition

I wish that a protective cover for the four way flat connector that stays with the trailer just like the one that stays with the hitch was part of the package. Every time I hook up the connector on my vehicle is nice and clean but the one one my trailer that sat bare and exposed is all grody and I need to clean it up before I hook them together. That is my only complaint.

by:

Trailer sells the right products the wiring is easy to connect price is worth the hassell.

by:

Every aspect of these items, purchase, and installation was as exact as noted. My final DIY install looks exactly like the 2016 Chrysler Van in the online instruction video. Thank you again eTrailer for the success of my now 9th purchase and install of your products.

by:

Wiring went really smoothly. I installed the wiring kit when I installed the hitch because I knew I wouldn't find time to do it later. Even though one year later I still haven't towed a trailer I'm still glad that I did the wiring. it was pretty simple to run and fairly easy to hookup.

by:

Installation was straight forward and took me about an hour. I routed the passenger side tail light wiring before securing the module in the drivers side tail light space. The green wire was long enough as I made sure it was on top of the bumper ledge and trailer hitch brackets after reading the other reviews. It is very easy to route it so it will be to short. I purchased 20 ft of small wire loom for the power cord and secured it with wire ties under the car. It was pretty easy but there were not enough wire ties in the kit. I used about 15 wire ties for a very neat installation of the power cable. I also cut a slit in the rubber grommet in the drivers side tail light well and ran the trailer hook up wire into the car jack compartment. This made the wire a little short but I was able to purchase an extension. For me it is much better to have the trailer wire inside of the mini van rather than trying to find a spot to secure it underneath the van when not in use. Every thing works no problems.

Jack C.

5/24/2015

Hi Bob, I would also like to run my flat four connector through the jack storage area on my 2014 town and country but am having trouble routing it. I see the grommet you are talking about and have removed it just to see how I can route the connector. After removing the grommet how do you get into the jack storage ares without doing some cutting?

by:
Chrysler

Trailer hitch was very easy to install. Backed van up incline until rear wheels were in garage. removed two exhaust hanger bolts and five bolts for hitch.had plenty of room without jacking. Used small stool to raise right side of hitch close to final area and then used scissors jack to lift driver side into position.loosley replaced bolts on driver side first then moved scissors jack to right side and finished lifting hitch into position. Exhaust pipe didn't move very much but overcame that by using socket with universal. replaced hanger bolts tightened all bolts. Done! Wiring harness went very smoothly as chrysler provided a nice opening on rear quarter interior behind jack storage to mount module on their module. a rubber and plastic exhaust air opening provided room to put wires out to hitch and to rear lights, only issue there as others have noted is green wire is too short. Only time consuming issue was routing wire up to battery without jacking vehicle. I also spent $3.00 to put plastic shielding over wire to battery. Used a plastic block and stainless clamps to mount bracket all is working fine
