Running Light Voltage is Good Going in But Not Coming Out of Trailer Wiring Harness C56150
Question:
Left and right turn signal both produce good voltage 12.4 van off - 13.3 van on. Turn signals and brakes work fine on trailer. Tail light brown only puts out a very steady 3 volts after the black box even though the car harness before the black box puts out 12. Tail lights on trailer work fine with other vehicles. Is there something I need to do to get 12 volts out of the brown wire? Relocating the ground doesnt change the voltage.

Expert Reply:
Since the voltage is correct going into the converter box but not correct coming out, that indicates that there is something wrong inside the converter for wiring harness # C56331. There is no fix for this and the whole harness will need to be replaced. The Curt wiring harness has a limited one year warranty.
I have included a link to our help article that you can view on testing 4-Way trailer wiring harnesses as well.
