Can Wiring Harness be Grounded in Way Other Than Directed

If I run an additional wire from the battery ground to the rear, will this product work? Instructions call to use the ground screw to the body.

You should only ground the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56331 as directed by the manufacturer. That means when installing it you have to ground it to the vehicle frame and ensure it is free of any type of dirt, paint or corrosion. Failing to do this can result in all types of funky issues; problems with a poor ground are the leading cause of harness issues and you are definitely going to want to follow the manufacturer's directions as closely as possible.
