Troubleshooting a Curt Wiring Harness on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan that Keeps Blowing Fuses

Question:

I have the Curt C56331 installed on my Dodge Grand Caravan 2012. All works good when testing the harness. For some reasons that I ignore, the fuse will eventually blow, even when not connected to a trailer. The fuse won’t blow instantly but will eventually blow. After changing the fuse, all works again and then blows again even when the harness is not used. I wonder if the power converter box is defect and draw too much power. Any possible answer on that? Thanks!

Something is going on with the installation of the Curt Wiring Harness part # C56331 on your 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. It should not be blowing the fuse under normal towing situations, but even more so without a trailer being connected. What I would recommend you do is go over all of the connections this harness makes to your vehicle to see if there is anything out of place that could be causing a short.

Also, check that there aren't any cut or exposed sections of the power wire between the fuse and converter box that would cause the wire to overdraw and blow the fuse.

I attached an FAQ article on troubleshooting 4-way installs for you to check out as well.
