PVC Construction
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a sturdy material that is great for use on marine trailers. A PVC roller is more durable than a rubber roller, but it's also soft enough to absorb road shock when your boat's in tow. And PVC is corrosion resistant, even in saltwater.
PVC is also non-marring, so it won't damage or discolor your boat upon contact. Rubber rollers can leave marks on your boat's hull as you load and unload. With PVC, on the other hand, you won't need to worry about any scuffs or smears on your boat.

Today we're gonna take a look at the C.E. Smith amber eight inch long PVC keel roller for boat trailers. Now this PVC keel roller will replace a worn or damaged keel roller on your boat trailer. This will help ease the loading and unloading of your boat onto your trailer. Supports the keel of your boat as it rests on your trailer, and it will even help absorb road shock while your boat's being towed.It's made of a PVC construction, which is polyvinyl chloride. It's very durable, non-marring, corrosion resistant.
It is stronger, longer lasting than rubber. And what's nice about this material is it won't leave scratches, scuffs or marks on your boat's hull like a rubber roller would. It is designed to work great in fresh water and salt water applications.You can see it's a nice, bright amber color. Application, fits an eight inch wide bracket with a five-eights inch diameter shaft. A few dimensions on this.
The diameter of that hole is five-eighths of an inch. That's with the . This will fit on the five-eighths inch diameter shaft. The overall width on this, and it's gonna be from the end here to the end here, is gonna be right at eight inches. I have an '85 trailer which has always been fitted with Atwood rubber rollers. Until the last few years they were fine and then something changed with the durability of the rubber. I was changing rollers every season. Last year I went with CE Smith and I have an entire season of traveling and many launches on them. So far I see only minimal abrasion on the center rollers beneath the keel. They look good and I look forward to them lasting a while. I will most likely buy them again. I give them 4 stars for durability with the possibility of that going to five if they last a couple more seasons.

Tougher and more durable than the cheaper black rubber type. Should hold up better before replacing again. Also should keep rolling better with my Lund keel not chewing it up so bad.

Perfect fit. Looks like they will do the job; but the last ones I got; Gates Black rubber, deteriorated in a short amount of time. We'll see what these look like in a year or two.
