Today we'll be taking a look at and installing the 12 inch long, 5/8 inch shaft Yates Keel Roller for boat trailers, part number YR1200Y. The Yates Keel Roller is make out of a non-marking, non-scratching material and it's stronger and more durable than your traditional rubber rollers. You can use it to replace any of your keel rollers on your boat trailer and it's fluid movement will help with easy unloading and loading your boat trailer. It also does a great job of absorbing road shock while your boat is being towed. It's got a 3 and 3/8 inch diameter and it's 12 inches wide. Now that we've got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. As you can see, we're going to be replacing our old keel roller here.
This one's all chewed up. Now the first thing we need to do is go ahead and remove our old pal nuts. Now you can either use a flat head screwdriver or a pair of pliers to wrestle them off but I found it was easiest just to use a cutoff wheel. It's always good to use eye protection. Now that we've made a few slits into it, we should be able to pop it right on off. Now we can just knock the rod out through the other side and we'll remove that pal nut as well.
Now this other one, we just made a notch on the side and we're going to finish it off by knocking it off with a hammer. Now we're ready to go ahead and put our new keel roller and our rod in place. If you've found that you've damaged the rod or you just simply want to replace it, we have a variety of different sizes here at etrailer.com. You just want to choose whatever works best for your application. To get started, we're going to be using a new pal nut so it's going be replacing our old one and that's going to be part number CE10801. Now the easiest way we found to do this is to put the pal nut on a flat, hard surface, then we'll take our rod.
We're going to put it down over the hole and then we're going to hit it in place with a hammer. Now with our pal nut in place, we can go ahead and grab our old wheel bushings. We'll put one in place there, grab our Keel Roller, line it up, put the rod all the way through then replace our other bushing. For putting our other pal nut in place, it's important to have pressure on the other end while I hit this one side. We're going to have somebody stand over here with a hammer and put pressure on it.
Once I've got it started, I can kind of let go and give it a good whack. That's going to complete our look and install of the Yates Keel Roller for boat trailers, part number.

Replace the standard rubber keel roller on your boat trailer with this thermoplastic rubber version from Yates. TPR material is stronger than rubber and softer than polyurethane, and it won't leave marks on your boat.Non marking qulaity very good but is a little too soft and I end up replacing these every year
The Yates boat rollers worked very well on the canoe/Kayak launcher constructed to allow easy access across a rocky bank at my cabin site.
Make sure you measure your roller diameter along with length and shaft size.
Order arrived quickly and exactly as ordered. I previously ordered leaf springs, brake kits, drums and equalizers and everything fit perfectly and of highest quality. Best place I have found for replacement trailer parts.

still working great!
Seems like made from a quality material, shouldn't wear out like previous rubber one did in a few years
I was trying to think what was different this year. I unload my sailboat off its trailer once a year in the spring. In the past I've had trouble getting it launched. This year it was effortless. It just rolled off. I was trying to figure out what changed. Why was it so easy? Then I remembered I changed out my rollers last summer. What a difference! Great price & made my launch so much easier!
Feels Solid. bought these to replace Yates Black Rubber rollers that only lasted 2 years....hoping these last longer.
Easy access to the actual dimension would be very helpfull. I thought I needed an 11 inch roller only to discover that a 12 inch roller is more like 11 3/8 ish.
Seems to be good quality, only time will tell how it stands up to repeated heavy saltwater and UV exposure. If possible I will update review after it has been in service for a while.
Product is as described shipping very fast very happy with etrailer I will be doing business with them for many years
thank you for faster shipping. great service, product just what i need. very happy with etrailer.com thanks so much Brooke Burnett.

Roller works well, good and sturdy.
This has been a good roller in salt water that helps with the loading and unloading of a 16.5 ft Klamath.
Roller etc. arrived timely, haven't installed it yet.
