Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Yates eight-inch long keel roller for boat trailers. Now, this keel roller will replace a worn out or damaged keel roller that's on your boat trailer. And the keel rollers will be placed along the center line of your boat trailer to support the keel of the boat. And these keel rollers are typically mounted into brackets that'll bolt to the trailer's crossmembers.
The keel roller will ease loading and unloading of your boat, helps support the bottom of the boat as it sits on the trailer. And it'll even help absorb road shock while the boat's being towed. This one here is constructed of a TPR material, which stands for thermal-plasticized rubber. It is a non-marking, non-scratching material. It's a lot stronger and more durable than your traditional rubber.
And it is softer and more pliant than polyurethane. This part is made in the USA. Last thing I wanna do is give you some specs on this. Again, the application for this, this fits an eight-inch wide bracket with a 5/8 inch diameter shaft. So, if we do the overall length, and that's gonna be measured from the plastic white portions here to this side, so the overall length is gonna be right at 7 3/4 inches.
Just the roller itself, you can see it's about seven inches. Now, the diameter on this, again, the overall, edge to edge is gonna be 3 1/16 of an inch. The diameter of the white portion, which is the shaft support is gonna be right at 1 3/4 inches. And then the shaft hole is gonna measure right at about 11/16 of an inch. So, it is designed to fit onto a 5/8 inch diameter shaft.
But that should do it for the review on this Yates eight-inch long keel roller for boat trailers..

Thanks for providing the best customer service.Your team is awesome.I really appreciate you guys
Far superior product compared to what was on there (old 19 year-old rubber rollers). To do my ShoreLand'r trailer, I hooked up the trailer to my pickup, chocked the wheels, jacked up the front end of the boat while keeping the winch line hooked up, and dropped the roller assembly after removing on hog pin. Simply remove the hog pins, remove the old roller, install the new roller, and reinstall hog pin (or Pal Nut if desired). Thanks etrailer.com!
When I received this roller it had a big glob of material (see attached photo) blocking the shaft hole. It took me quite a long time to get this material removed. When asked to do a review I mentioned this problem and just got a "sorry you had a problem" response. Otherwise the roller was easy to install (after getting this glob of material removed) and seems to be holding up very well.
I have had these keel rollers installed for ten weeks now, and 48 launches later, they are far superior to the rubber rollers that came with the trailer. These rollers are harder than the rubber ones and the boat basically self-launches with a little nudge. Most of the lakes I fish have a very shallow-water access so I am essentially dry-loading my 16' Lund and 25-horse 4-stroke, the weight of which is punishing to a keel roller. So far, they have been outstanding.
Very good, just what I needed. I would suggest that anyone replacing their trailer rollers, go ahead and spend the extra $ to replace the roller shafts; I wish I had. I saved over $40 by purchasing this product, and so far I am thoroughly pleased . I plan to pass the word around to those who have older and saltwater trailers. Boat practically loads itself now, and no more black streaks on the gel coat.

I USE MY BOAT SPARINGLY, BUT EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THE ROLLERS WHICH I MENTIONED LAST YEAR, CONTINUES TO APPLY. AGAIN, GO AHEAD AND PURCHASE THE SHAFTS AND CAPS AS WELL, THEY ARE LIKELY VERY RUSTED OR WARPED, ETC. THIS ACTION SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO FOCUS ON OTHER PARTS OF YOUR BOAT OR TRAILER WHICH NEED ATTENTION, THE ROLLERS ARE GOOD TO GO!
This product has done its job. My old black rubber ones cracked over time and were falling apart. Hopefully this one will last longer. My trailer isn’t exposed to the elements as it is kept under cover. So far I am very pleased with its performance. etrailer has a variety of parts for my various trailer needs and I would recommend etrailer for your trailer parts.

have it installed but have not used the trailer yet so can't comment on the roller

As I said in my first review I had not used the boat since installing the roller on my trailer. For the first time after many, many purchases from e-trailer I have to give these rollers a bad review. They lasted through only 3 launches of my boat before deteriorating completely. Not only did they develop flat spots but material started to peal off the rollers. One caveat, my boat is an older Boston Whaler that MUST have 100 of the hull weight on the center rollers and I also have a tilt-bed trailer that puts tremendous strain on the rollers. The trailer never goes in the water, just the bottom of the tires get wet. The boat is winched onto the trailer power winch of course so both the launch and especially the retrieve puts strain on the rollers. In all fairness I think these rollers are more than adequate for most boaters but turned out to be totally wrong for my use. After trashing these rollers I put a complete set of Stoltz rollers that have showed no sign of wear after almost a year of use. I still will go to e-trailer for any and all my needs for my trailer, car etc. despite my dissatisfaction with this particular purchase
At my age (69) I need all the help I can get when loading and unloading my 18' fishing boat. This centering roller has performed exactly as advertised. Centering the keel and helps keeps the boat moving easily on and off the trailer. Good, solid roller.
Best boat rollers I have ever had on my trailer. The old rubber ones would crush from the weight making launching and loading difficult and only lasted a couple of years. With these rollers the boat is easy to launch and load. Not showing any signs of crushing after a year with the boat sitting on them.

Seems to work as hoped. Harder and more durable than the black rubber type I had on trailer. Boat keel doesn't dig in so it actually rolls for better loading and unloading. Should hold up longer before it needs replacing.
I’ll start be giving a huge AWESOME JOB TO THE STAFF, for the great service. I ordered the Yates keel and bow rollers to replace all the old black rubber on a stainless steel Boston Whaler trailer that I built for a friend about 18 years ago. The local suppliers didn’t have everything I needed in one place. So I checked online and found etrailer.com and ordered keel rollers, end caps, bow roller with bell ends. Confirmed the order about 3-4 in the morning Hawaii time and learned the order was shipped less that five hours latter. And the box was sitting outside my door two days later. Damn that’s fast, especially to Hawaii. Being a first time buyer , that’s one hell of a first impression. With pricing and shipping can’t be beat. Very much appreciated.
GREAT JOB PEOPLE!!!!!
Oh yeah, Im supposed to review the product too. Well, Yates TPR rollers good product, good price and exceptional service!!!
Mahalo and God Bless,

The roller is installed and works well. It was slightly shorter than the original equipment, but that was indicated in the details. It's harder than the original and this makes the keel strip slip to the center better.
This roller is made cheap. The diameter inside the roller is about 1.25". The nylon bushings are less than 3/4" deep on each end and are not solid. This clearance will cause the roller to collapse in the center under heavy load because of the clearance between the roller and the axle shaft. I am very disappointed. If it were not for the return shipping cost, I would send them back.
This is a great upgrade from the stock black rubber units. TPR is much tougher, and this unit is cast around a steel pipe which adds to it's strength. Very confident that I won't be buying a replacement for quite some time. Thanks Etrailer!
Product is as advertised; arrived on time with no issues. Tech support was prompt to answer my question about shaft end cap installation; very helpful. My only miss was that I did not measure all keel rollers, as one is wider then the other three. Would have been ideal, if this was suggested by eTrailer, but then that would be a stretch.
Got 2 to replace cracked black rubber keel rollers and they worked great, boat rolls off and on easier. They were shipped fast and were exactly as described.
I am very pleased with the rollers and hubs that I purchased. They were easy to install on the trailer and have worked well for the past year.
Just received my order but haven't had time to install anything yet. Bought a different boat and rebuilding the trailer. Have had nothing but good service from etrailer. Quick service and quality products will not be shopping for these type of parts any place else. Couldn't be happier with service received.
TPR rollers are suppose to be a very good roller. Seems to be high quality. Just put it on my boat trailer, so I will have and wait to see how it stands up to the rubber ones. Well write another review at a later date on how it holds up.
I've had this roller on my trailer over a year and it works great. I would recommend it.
I purchased these to replace my rubber rollers that were always cracking. So far, I am impressed with these sturdy rollers.
Quick and simple, we will see how they do as far as durability. Hopefully they outlast the standard rubber rollers!
Nice product. Fair price, and etrailer.com's usual fact delivery. Very happy with my purchase.
Easy online ordering from my smart phone, fast delivery and much easier unloading and loading of my boat. One of the best purchases that I made in a long time. Thank you.
I have not put the boat on it yet but it feels soft and sturdy. Easy installation.

One year later, the rollers are still performing perfectly after 150 more launches. Great product for me.
