Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the bearing kit for disc brakes with 8-inch hub and rotors on 2000 pound axles. This is a complete kit, everything here laid out on the table. It includes the grease caps, both the inner and outer bearings, the grease seals and the lug nuts for two disc brake assemblies. It is designed to fit 8-inch hub and rotor assemblies for 2000 pounds axles. We'll start with the grease caps right here. These are part number F001518. They're a drive-in grease cap.

They have a 1.99-inch diameter. Now, the inner bearings and the outer bearings on this application are both the same part number; they're part number L44649 for inner and outer bearings, and are designed to be used with the bearing races part number L44610. The bearing races are not included and that's because they are usually already pre-installed in the new hubs that you're putting these in. The inner diameter on these bearings is 1.063 inches. The grease seals, they're part number 10-9.

They are a double-lip grease seal and that will help you retain the grease better and it helps keep out any moisture and debris. The inner diameter on the seal is 1.5 inches. Overall diameter is 1.987 inches. Then it also comes with 10 of the 0.5-inch x 20 size lug nuts and the lug nuts are what are used to secure your wheel to the hub. That should do it for the review on the bearing kit for disc brakes with the 8-inch hubs and rotors on 2000 axles.

First: the shipping time was exceptional! I received the package in about three days. Second: The bearings and grease seals seemed to be of good quality. New lug nuts were a nice touch to the kit.
Third: the dust caps did not fit my Dexter hub. Not really happy about that.
Fourth: I did not realize the kit did not contain the bearing races when I ordered. One of my races was pitted badly enough that it needed replacing. Luckily, I happened to have a spare.
For a replacement bearing kit I would have preferred to have gotten new races. If I had needed dust caps I could have ordered them separately.

  • Replacement Brakes, Hub and Drum Assembly with L44649 Inner and Outer Bearings on 2000lbs Axle
I have a solution for you, but the # AKUBRK-35-D are 10" brakes and will be too large for the hub/drum assemblies that fit on your axle. Instead you'll want to use the Dexter # 23-398-399 which are a 7" brake assembly that can be used with wheels between 10" and 13" diameter. It sounds like you also need new hubs, so you can use the etrailer Axle Tech # AKHD-545-2-2K which are a 2000-lb capacity and have # L44649 inner and outer bearings to match your specifications. This hub and drum assembly...

  • How To Confirm Fit of Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 8" Rotor/Hub - 2,000 Lb Axles
The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 8" Rotor/Hub part # K2HR2D is designed for a trailer with 2,000 lb axles which uses L44649 bearings. In order to confirm fit you'll need to identify the axle capacity which is usually listed on the axle tag in the center of the beam. If it's not listed here then you'll will need to pull apart the bearings and or measure the spindle. I have attached a help article below to assist with this. If you have a different axle capacity or bearings then these won't work...
