Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule replacement, non-locking ratchet arm assembly. This is going to replace one non-locking ratchet arm assembly for your Thule T2 classic platform bike rack. So this will work with the two bike rack that's for your engine quarter inch hitches, your two bike rack that's for two inch hitches, as well as the four bike rack. That's for your two inch hitches, all three that you see on, part numbers that you see on the screen there.
So this will be an exact replacement from Thule. So it is gonna fit right in place of that original. You're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues or anything like that. You'll reuse the original hardware to get this mounted in place, and the hook will insert right in here so that you can get it connected to your bike. This is going to be used to secure the bike to the rack by the front wheel.
The lock core is not included. You can see, we do have this spot for it. That is sold separately. You can find it here - etrailer.com, using that part number that you see on the screen there to add a lock core to this arm. But overall, if you are just looking to replace that original ratcheting arm, this is gonna be exactly what you need.

Replaces a damaged non-locking ratchet arm assembly for your Thule T2 Classic platform bike rack.First of all, etrailer is great! I'm very impressed with the wealth of knowledge that they provide on hitches and accessories. But this is the first time that I've purchased from them -- and I was equally impressed with the service. Right from moment I placed my order, they kept me informed on every step, and the delivery arrived on time and in good shape!
So anyhow, I have a Thule T2 classic bike rack that I purchased in 2006. Awesome product, but in was manufactured at a time when 26" was the norm, but the biking community was transitioning to 29". So when we purchased our new 29" Santa Cruz High Tower's in 2020, I discovered that the hook on the ratchet arm would not extend far enough to go around the bigger wheel. So I had to remove the stop screw, so that the ratchet arm could slide partially off the arm to get around the tire. It worked ok, but really, $9,000 bikes put on a bike rack with a too-short arm? So finally, I purchased 2 new Thule replacement arms from etrailer. I think it was not too long after I purchased my Thule T2, that they started manufacturing a longer arm, so I simply ordered a replacement arm. So now I have a Thule T2 bike rack that looks like new again, with the new ratchet arms, and the niners fit without having to remove the stop screw. Awesome! I have attached photo's showing the difference between the old original arms and the new longer arms.
I used these replacement arms on my older 26" wheel rack. I was able to keep my old rack which has a great design. If you want to keep your locks, you will need to buy a masterkey. Some of my old bolts were rusted and that made the disassembly a bit tricky. Installation was straight forward.

I'm really happy with this purchase! I bought two replacement ratchet arms for my old Thule T2 hitch rack, rather than spending $$$ for a new rack. They shipped fast and arrived in less than a week. Replacement was easy, taking about 30 minutes for both arms. Thule builds a high quality rack and being able to purchase replacement parts through etrailer was really easy. I have purchased other replacement parts previously, after backing my rack into a tree. Very reasonable prices also!
Item was what I needed. I have an older T2 Classic rack which only works with 26" and smaller wheels. I contacted Thule customer support and they told me I needed the new Ratchet arm assembly and hook. Prior to ordering part, I called to ensure it came with the hook. Gal on the phone stated it should since it is pictured on the website, therefore I ordered it. A week goes by and it hasn't shipped so I called the part was not in stock so they had to wait for Thule to send it. It took a while to get the part and it DOES NOT include the hook as pictured. Old existing hook will fit new arm so I didn't need it anyways.
Perfect replacement arm for my T2 classic. Only con was the screws to split the arm apart was easily rounded, now I can't take this arm apart.
My older Thule T2 Classic had the ratchet arm assemblies for 26" wheels. Now that all my bikes are 29er's I switched over to these newer ratchet arm assemblies. Installation was very simple, straightforward and easy.
Product was just what I expected, and what I needed.
I did move the sliding handle to my other upright, to have the cable locking feature.
But, that was no problem.

Easy bolt on replacement for the old arm assembly
This arm is longer. Now fits fat bike!
It works great, but the only real problem is the sun warp the black plastic and then it will split. Might need to do some re-engineering.
