Upgrading Old T2 Ratchet Arms and Wheel Trays to Be Compatible with 26 Inch Wheels with Fat Tires

Question:

The Thule T2 is the older style and the T2 Classic # TH9044-TH9046 and T2 Pro # TH9034XT is the newer style. The newer T2 Classic can accept tires up to 5 inches wide but it does require changing the strap location. I've attached a photo to assist. The older T2 requires the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for Thule T2 Platform-Style Bike Rack # TH919 which will work in the same way as the photo attached to accommodate your 4.8 inch wide tires. Since you have the older version of the Thule T2 Classic (pre 2012) then you cannot replace your ratcheting arms with part # 752-1272-001 which has an overall length of 31-1/2 inches due to a difference in bolt pattern. This is unfortunate because it will work with your fat bikes as long as the cradles like above accommodate the tire width.

The Replacement Non-Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly for Thule T2 Classic Platform Bike Racks # 753357902 is 29-1/4 inches long overall. It is 26-3/4 inches long from the top of the tube to the end of the arm. The last locking position is 24 inches from the top of the tube. These don't account for the hook as that is not included so the measurements are to the top of the handle. According to my contact at Thule this is the same arm that came on your older rack. Unfortunately there is not a longer replacement available.
