Hi there, I'm Michael with Etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look, at this Thule replacement one, in a quarter inch hitch and backbone assembly, for your Thule T2 Classic two bike platform rack. This is going to replace the inch and a quarter hitch and backbone assembly. Needed to install your Thule T2 Classic, two-bike platform rack. And this can also be used, if you're wanting to convert your two inch assembly, for use in a inch and a quarter inch hitch. You can swap out the backbone and shank for your assembly.
That way you can use it in your engine a quarter. You can also then have an adapter, so, if you wanna switch back and forth, between an and a quarter and a two inch, there are adapters available that would allow you to make your two inch smaller, so that it would fit this inch and a quarter shank. But otherwise, this is gonna be an exact replacement, from Thule so you can trust it is gonna work with your T2 Classic. No worries about fit issues, or compatibility problems or anything like that. It's gonna retain all the same functionality, as your original, so you can tilt your bike rack away, if you're wanting to get into your rear hatch, and that sort of thing.
So it's gonna be a great option if you're needing to replace that original inch and a quarter inch backbone assembly, or if you're wanting to switch out, that two inch option so that you can use this for a wider variety of applications. - Using a 2" Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack With a 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch ReceiverI do have a recommendation for you as Thule only offers the Replacement 1-1/4" Hitch and Backbone Assembly # 753370902 for changing your Thule T2 Classic 2" to a 1-1/4". You can use either a Straight Adapter # e43YR or Rise Adapter # HT5R to adapt your 1-1/4" hitch to carry the 2" bike rack. Do note that the adapter will reduce the tongue weight rating on your receiver by 50%. So if you have a tongue weight rating of 350lbs you will have to stay 175lbs or below for the adapter.
