Hey everybody! Welcome to etrailer.com, I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the Thule replacement longarm assembly for your Thule EasyFold XTs. So, these guys are a awesome little cradle setup, really do like them, however, if yours just might be damaged somehow, isn't quite working, or for whatever the reason you might have, you may need to replace it Well, look no further, 'cause we do have the direct replacement part here. So here we are side by side, we do have a new arm here, no issues with this guide, but we just wanted to show you that it is gonna be a direct replacement, and really easy to actually get these guys installed. So, first thing we need to do is actually remove our old one, Let's go ahead and start taking a look at how we can get them exchanged. So first things first, for our old arm, let's make sure that we are unlocked, that way we can spin this knob out, get us the little extra room we need to actually dismount this off of our frame. Once we actually have enough room for our arm to open up, you can see, it just simply walks away, that's gonna open up our lever system here, making it really easy to remove, just like so, you can reset it if you need to.
And then we just take our new arm here, and we're gonna be repeating that process. Make sure we are unlocked, opening that up enough, and then simply compressing that, opening up our lever, and then setting it in place, bringing it back, closing it on, and then we could just run it down a little bit that way. And we'll walk itself up. It's as easy as that to get it replaced. Now we actually have our long arm ready to go.
The only thing is, though, our locking cores are gonna be different. Now maybe we get lucky and our key right there is gonna tell us our little number, so hopefully that matches up, a lot of times, though, it's unfortunately not going to, it has a little N 2 3 9 for this one, unfortunately our other arms and locking cores around here are gonna be a six. So what we'd actually end up having to doing is driving ourselves from Thule locking cores. Now maybe your locking core is still available for you, that's gonna be great, you can maybe scavenge it from your old arm. We are gonna need a Thule control key though, to actually get it out.
So that's gonna be the one thing you're gonna need separate from your purchase here today. Now that is available here at etrailer.com, and if things kind of go, you know, your own way about it and you maybe just don't want to find yourself having to buy an entire control key you could find yourself a local bike shop, but yeah that's gonna be the biggest hangup, for, I think, a lot of people, is getting that locking core keyed alike. Now is it gonna be the end of the world for us to have two keys on our key ring Probably not, but I know that's probably not everybody's first go-to. So, my idea would be grab that control key for yourself, that way you can start getting all of your locking cores keyed alike, and you have a way easier time. And just like that, my long arm assembly is ready to rock and roll to clamp onto the variety of bikes it enables itself to, really love that it's just a direct replacement for itself, and it's very, very easy to actually get this in place.
Hopefully we don't have the need for replacement but we are here watching it. I lost this part and needed a replacement before I could embark on a trip with my motorhome. It arrived in a timely manner so I was not delayed.
Replacement arm came quickly, replaced one that broke on our last trip. Hopefully this new arm will last a longer time.
Replacement arm just like the original, good design, good product.
I only needed to replace the original because it was mistakenly left on our bumper, and we drove away. Who knows where it landed. Glad a replacement was available
These folks are great. I searched the WWW for this part, and it looked like a 5-6 week delivery time from Amazon or UK sources. I was getting desperate with an upcoming drive from California to Colorado in 2 weeks. My alternatives seemed to be to buy a new rack for under $1000, try to borrow a rack, or not take the bikes. Then I found etrailer's website. I ordered the assembly on Thursday and got a confirmation email telling me I had a Monday delivery date. I wasn't even sure this was the correct part. Then, on Saturday, the order arrived - 2 days early!! It's perfect; they are even better than they said they'd be. I wouldn't hesitate to reorder from etrailer.
