Video Transcript for Redline Tires and Wheels 165995 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch Drive In Wheel Stud for a quantity of one. Now this is a replacement trailer drive in wheel stud. It is designed to be pressed into your wheel hub assembly. Right here the neural portion is what would be pressed in. Then this threaded portion is what your lug nut would screw on to. It is a 1/2 inch diameter.

Total length, which is measured from the top of that end cap here to the edge of the stub is right at 2 1/2 inches. It is a 1/2 inch by 20 thread size. Basically, if you have your standard 1/2 inch lug nut, you can see that that's what would screw on to this stud. Just like that. Then hold your wheel on to the hub.

But that should do it for the review on the 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch Drive In Wheel Stud for a quantity of one.

Exactly what was needed but took several weeks to arrive.

by:

Only place that I knew the product was the exact one I needed... Like new after installing.

by:

Wheel studs were delivered as advertised, however they were not an exact fit in my application; the spline length was just a little too long and the head diameter was a little too wide. With a short spin on the grinding wheel both were fixed and they're now installed and working perfectly. I tired to source these studs from local auto parts stores and had absolutely no luck at all. Overall, etrailer.com website provided numerous options with varying stud lengths and thread patterns which ultimately saved they day!

Just when I needed a hard to find part...... Bingo! eTrailer.com has it!

Perfect. No issues and the ONLY place I was able to find the lug!

I ordered wheel studs, shackle straps, and nuts to replace rusty components on my trailer. These are additional parts after ordering new trailer springs from etrailer earlier. Everything fit up great, and now both my axles support the trailer. Yay!

Thanks to Etrailer for having all this stuff for quick delivery, and it saves a ton over the local shop.

by:

Was the correct product for the brake hub. What is really great is to talk to a person. So many web sites do not let you order by phone. As a retiree a lot of us are not internet smart and do not like to put our info on the internet. Thank you Noah for giving us a faster phone number to reach you at in case we had any questions or a problem.

by:

Most excellent customer service! We had a critical job that was under a huge time constraint where we learned at the last minute that the wheel studs were too short. Order a large quantity (150pcs) of this extended stud on Wednesday afternoon and the full order arrived at out facility by 11:00am Thursday morning! Parts looked great and will save us big time! Thank you Adam E. and etrailer.com for your amazing service!

  • Replacement Studs for a Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ
The replacement wheel stud you would need for your Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ would be a Wheel Stud # 165995. Also, when you install the wheels onto your hubs you will want to torque them down to spec and then after 50-100 miles you will want to re-tighten them to the specified torque rating to prevent having the studs break in the future.

  • How to Determine Wheel Stud Replacement for Boat Trailer Hub H-1377
Based on my research it looks like you have a hub for a 3,500 lb axle, though we do not have any exact reference for an H-1377 hub to go off of. You only need to know whether your hub uses screw-in or drive-in studs as well as the length of stud you need. This is going to require you to remove one of your wheel studs and if they are drive-in they will have a head on them like the 1/2" x 2-1/2" Wheel Stud # 165995. A screw-in like the 1/2" x 2" Wheel Stud # 25-53 will be completely threaded. I...

  • What Size Hole to Drill for Installing Redline Replacement Drive-In Trailer Wheel Stud # 165995
My contact at Redline advised that their Replacement Drive-In Trailer Wheel Stud, part # 165995, which has a spline diameter of 0.54 inches, can be driven into a hole diameter from 0.50 inches to 0.52 inches. My contact at Dexter advised that if you are able to hammer the old stud out of the hub (from the front, opposite to how it was installed) without deforming the hole or changing its size, then the replacement should fit properly without any need to drill the hub. If needed a punch...

  • What Would Cause Threads of Wheel Stud to Be Unusable After Using Washer Method to Install Them
It sounds like you are using a lug nut on the wheel stud # 165995 that has either damaged threads or a similar but different thread size which is destroying the stud. My brother had this happen to him once with a car and it took him a while to realize since the threads were pretty close. The size of the lug nuts you'd need to use is 1/2 inch diameter with 20 threads per inch like the # 12CLN.

Wheel stud # 165995 is a drive-in wheel stud meaning it gets driven into a hub with a mallet or similar tool. Since it is a 1/2 inch the lug nuts, when tightened, 1/2 inch lug nuts should be at 75 to 85 foot pounds on 8 inch to 14 inch steel or aluminum wheels, 90 to 120 foot pounds for 15 to 16 inch steel wheels, and 90 to 100 foot pounds on 15 or 16 inch aluminum wheels.

If you are using the Aluminum Lynx Trailer Wheel part # LHSL311 then your trailer will have 1/2-20" lug studs therefore, in order to secure your spare wheel/tire to the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier part # C31006 I recommend using multiples of the Wheel Stud part # 165995 and the Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut part # 12CLN-L. I contacted our representative at Axle Tek and he informed me that the studs on the Trailer Hub Assembly, part # AKIHUB-440-2-1K are Drive In Studs, so they are either pressed or hammered in. This hub assembly will work with your 2000 lb Axles, 4 on 4 bolt pattern, with L44643 Bearings. I informed him that you are planning to remove the studs and replace them with longer studs. • Replacement Wheel Studs for Hub 22834
According to the information that I was able to obtain for hub 22834, it more than likely uses Drive In Wheel Stud, # 165995, which measures 1/2 inch x 2-1/2 inch. The absolute best way to determine the correct replacement wheel studs for your hub would be to hammer out one of the existing studs and take a measurement. I have included a link to all of the wheel studs that we offer for your convenience.
