Longer Wheel Studs Needed for Dexter 2,200 Lb Trailer Hub
Question:
I purchased two of these hubs along with new wheels and tires but due to the tires being obsolete E 78 and the replacement tires slightly wider I have a rub on the fender bolt. I purchased a 1/2inch wheel spacer which gives me enough clearance from the bolt but need 1/2inch longer lugs. What can I do so that I can get longer lugs for these hubs

In order to install longer lug studs on the Trailer Hub Assembly part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ you will need to use the Drive In Wheel Stud part # 165995 which are 1/2" longer. These new studs should then allow you to retain the wheel spacers therefore provide clearance from the fender. In order to install the new lug studs, we first need to remove the old ones which can be done by carefully hitting the top of the stud with a hammer. Then once the old studs are removed we can install the new ones. The easiest way to install the new lug stud is to insert the stud though the hole, then place a 1/2" hex nut on the other side. After this is done, we can tighten down the hex nut which will then drive the stud into the idler hub.
