with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

  • Weight Distribution and Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2007 Mercury Mountaineer
You'd want to check with a Ford dealer. I wasn't able to get a specific towing capacity for your vehicle but it looks like the capacity range is between 3,500 and 6,930 lbs. If your capacity is good with the weight of your trailer the weight distribution system you'd want is the Pro Series part # PS49582 which has a tongue weight range of 550 to 750 like what your trailer has. Then for a transmission cooler you'd want the # D13503 with the fitting adapter part # D13025. This is a very...

  • Parts Needed to Install Derale Transmission/Engine Oil Cooler # D13302 on 2003 Ford F-150
To properly install the Derale Transmission/Engine Oil Cooler # D13302 on your 2003 Ford F-150, you will need to purchase the hose separately. I recommend the Derale Single-Hose Transmission Cooler Installation Kit # D12006. I have provided a link to this product. Provided the Transmission/Engine Oil Cooler fits properly in your vehicle, you will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings # D13025 and I have provided a link to that product as well. For the oil cooler connection, I...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For a 1999 Ford F-150 With 4.6L V8
I recommend using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13504 as it is one of our larger transmission coolers and will help to keep your transmission temps cooler. You will need the Adapter Fittings # D13024 and # D13025 to tie into your transmission fluid cooling lines. Unfortunately, we do not have any installation videos on a vehicle similar to your 1999 Ford F-150 at this time.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendations for a 2002 F-350 with the 7.3L Diesel
Transmission fluid should run below 200 degrees Fahrenheit. At 240 degrees you definitely need to make some sort of change to reduce the temperature. I would first recommend having the transmission checked by a qualified automotive technician to be sure it is performing properly. This will assure you that no damage has been caused to the transmission and you will not be stranded. Installing a transmission cooler will not reverse any damage that may have already been caused. If you find...

  • Recommended Transmission Coolers for 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 Engine
Transmission coolers like the Class V Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13614 are not vehicle specific; other pan type coolers such as # D14208 that bolt on in place of your transmission pan ARE specific to your 2000 Ford Expedition with 5.4L V8 engine. You can install Derale cooler # D13614 as long as you have space for it to mount in one of the preferred locations (see the linked article) such as in front of your AC condenser. You will also need hose fitting kit # D13025.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2009 Ford F-150
Both the Derale Transmission Coolers # D13503 and # D13504 referenced in your question are great options for your 2009 Ford F-150. Between the two options, I recommend going with the Derale # D13504, as its slightly larger size will allow for a greater cooling capacity. The unit measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. As long as you have the required space behind the grille of your F-150, this cooler will work perfectly. If your F-150 has the 1/2"-20 thread on the...

  • Is Factory Transmission Cooler Bypassed With New Cooler Installed on a 2007 Ford F-150
No, when you install a transmission cooler, you are installing it as a supplemental system to assist the factory system. You would not want to bypass the factory cooler as that would not be nearly as beneficial, even if the new cooler is larger than the old one. The preferred method is to use the insta-dapt fitting at the radiator in the return line that takes fluid back to the transmission. Instead, you will have this line go to the inlet of the new cooler. The outlet will then be ran...

  • How to Determine Fit of Oil Cooler for 1998 Ford F-150
When it comes to transmission coolers they are not a vehicle-specific fit so any cooler, including the Derale 25-Row, High-Performance, Stacked-Plate Cooler # D52506, will fit depending on how much space you have in your 1998 Ford F-150; this one is 13" Wide x 9-3/16" tall x 2" deep. If you take a look at the linked help article on transmission coolers you can see exactly how they fit. A stacked-plate cooler is a great, heavy-duty option but if the 2" depth is too much another option is...

  • How to Tap into Transmission Fluid Return Line on a 2012 Ford Expedition for a Transmission Cooler
The line that you will need to tap into is the transmission fluid return line. The easiest way to determine the return line on your 2012 Ford Expedition transmission is to start the truck, shift into drive but do not go anywhere. After about 15 seconds or so put the truck back in park and apply the emergency brake. Turn off the truck. Out of the 2 hoses attached to the transmission, one should be warmer than the other. The one that is cooler is the return line. You can use radiator adapter...

This Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury, # D13025, the male threaded end of the fitting goes into your vehicle's radiator and is a thread perfect fit so there is no leaking. The female end of the adapter attaches to the line you removed from the radiator that runs to your transmission. The other end of each fitting is a hose barb where a rubber hose slides over. The hose is then held in place with a hose clamp. One rubber hose will run to your transmission...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2004 Ford F-150 Towing in Mountains
Do you mean 4 wheel low 1 or low 2 gearing for your truck? You should keep the truck in 2 wheel drive when towing if you are on dry pavement. Putting the vehicle into 4 wheel drive will cause damage if you are on dry pavement. It would be a really smart idea to install a transmission cooler on your truck if you haven't installed one already. For that I recommend the Derale part # D13503 which is larger and very efficient. You'll also want the fittings part # D13024 and # D13025 to make...

The included mounts attach the cooler to one of your other heat exchangers, but some people prefer to create a fixed mount using a mounting kit like # D13002. • Transmission Cooler for 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Towing 3000-lb Trailer
A transmission cooler is a sensible addition to almost any vehicle that will be towing a trailer. This is true even if the trailer weight is less than the vehicle's towing capacity. The 2008 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L has a 3500-lb maximum trailer weight capacity according to the online manual I reviewed so a supplementary transmission cooler is definitely a good idea. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled. The recommended Derale cooler for your vehicle is item # D13503 which installs...

Since you mentioned it does not have the factory tow package, but that you do have a 4-way, I am going with the assumption that the 4-way was an aftermarket addition. To use a brake controller, you will need to adapt your current 4-way into a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 kit will provide you with everything that you need to adapt the 4-way into a functioning 7-way to use a brake controller. The brake controller that I recommend...

The best location for the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, on your Ford F350 7.3L Diesel would be between your vehicle grille and the air conditioning condenser. This location will give you the most airflow and allow the maximum cooling ability of the heat exchanger. You will want to measure to make sure you have clearance to install the heat exchanger. • How to Add Transmission Fluid After Installing Transmission Cooler on a 2003 Ford Explorer
I wasn't sure why your transmission fluid can only be filled by a dealer. Your 2003 Ford Explorer uses one of two possible automatic transmissions used on Ford Explorers from 1997 to 2010 and a lot of other vehicles within that same time frame. So I checked the owners manual and found out that it doesn't have a dip stick to check the fluid so you would not be able to add any. A combination oil/transmission cooler isn't a vehicle specific item. The best place to install a combo cooler is directly behind the grille in front of the radiator/AC compressor. You'll need to choose a cooler that will fit in the available space. I'd recommend the # D15902 kit which has a condenser that measures 17 x 12-1/2.
