Recommended Transmission Cooler For 3/8 Inch Hoses on 2002 Ford Excursion 6.8L
Question:
Greetings. The trans cooler fittings in my 2002 excursion 6.8 have broke off. The current cooler is mounted between my two larger heat exchangers. I currently have two 3/8 ID hoses running to this area for the current cooler. Which cooler would you guys recommend? Are they an easy bolt in operation? Or is additional mounting required? Thanks

For your 2002 Ford Excursion 6.8, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets # D13503. This cooler has turbulators inside tubes for superior heat transfer. The included mounts attach the cooler to one of your other heat exchangers, but some people prefer to create a fixed mount using a mounting kit like # D13002.
I recommend the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025 to easily install your new transmission cooler without needing to cut and flare lines. These fittings are designed to work specifically with your Ford Excursion's radiator.
