With a fan-mounted heat-exchanger unit, you can be sure that there will always be optimum airflow for your engine oil cooler no matter where your cooler is mounted or what sort of environment you are traveling through. Couple that with the highly efficient plate-fin core - wherein finned chambers provide increased surface area, allowing superior heat transfer with minimum pressure drop - and you have a truly effective heat-exchange system.

The sandwich adapter in this kit provides the external oil lines necessary to install a cooler without requiring you to move the factory spin-on oil filter, making it even easier to extend the life of your vehicle's engine. In addition, the thermostatic bypass feature allows oil cooler than 180 degrees to bypass the heat exchanger, so your engine will warm up faster.

Oil cooler works great, Only thing that I have an issue with is I can not use my stock oil filter with it. I have a 1992 Chevy K3500 with a 454 tonawanda 7.4 liter. In the instructions it is telling me to use a filter that is for a 350 or a 5.6 liter. But I was told by Derale that I should have no issues at all.

This is a good cooler however on a 4 wheel drive avalanche it's a challenge to get it installed in a position that will work with all of that equipment under there. I pinched the oring a little bit and it's leaking very slightly. On the next oil change I'll replace the oring, other than that this cooler works great.

  • 12 Volt Ignition Source Needed for a Remote Engine Oil Cooler
The 12 volt ignition source needed to install remote cooler # D15450 is not a constant draw on the circuit meaning that it is only used at the thermostat switch. But the fan does draw continuous power when running. It wouldn't overload a circuit provided that the 12 volt ignition source used is rated for more than 15 amps which is the amount of continuous power the fan draws. Usually the radio circuit is what people choose. But any circuit that has power only when the ignition is turned...

An engine oil cooler with fan, like # D15450, has a 10 foot OEM spec hose. • Engine Oil & Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2011 Dodge Durango
The two coolers could easily fit together. Main reason is that the oil cooler kit part # D15450 that you referenced can be remote mounted basically anywhere since it comes with it's own fan. The transmission cooler part # D13504 would then need to mount in front of the radiator and fit easily.
