So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

A must have .just wish I had got my trans cooler from etrailer they are a great company .so if you gonna put a trans cooler own you GM truck take my word for it you best go to trailer! Won't be sorry, thanks

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

Pro help online to order. Trans cooler shipped right away.
Installed and working perfectly.

by:

Worked just as needed

by:

The adapter fitting did not fit my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 w/ 5.3 liter engine and factory trailer package.

by:

Exact fit for my 2000 Chevy Silverado. What a time saver. I am glad that etrailer suggested these.

by:

Just received my order today. I haven't installed the parts yet. They appear to be high quality though.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2011 Chevrolet Express Van 1500
For your 2011 Chevrolet Express Van 1500, I recommend going with the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503 along with the Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018. The fitting will allow you to quickly and easily install the transmission cooler without having to cut or flare the lines. This transmission cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall and 7/8 inches deep. This is a great plate-fin cooler that will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. When...

  • Is Additional Transmission Cooler Needed On 2004 GMC Sierra When Towing A Long Distance
If you have a transmission cooler already installed on your 2004 GMC Sierra 1500, it may be enough to handle the long journey you said you are planning on taking. My first recommendation would be to install temperature gauges for your oil and also for the transmission fluid. Then hook your trailer up and drive it to find out exactly how it is doing. I recommend the Derale Temperature Gauge, part # D13009. I would recommend one for the oil temp and one for the transmission oil temp. If...

  • Can Derale Dyno-Cool Remote Cooler Mount in Front of Radiator in 2010 Chevy Silverado
As stated by Derale in the instructions of the Derale Dyno-Cool Remote Cooler with Fan and AN Inlets # D12733, "The purpose of a remote mount cooler is to be able to mount the cooler away from the front of the vehicle therefore not blocking airflow to the radiator/condenser. This cooler can be mounted anywhere space permits." If you are going to be adding a transmission cooler in front of your radiator I instead recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503,...

  • Best Solution for Lowering Vehicle Temperatures When Towing
The added stress from trailer towing usually shows up as an increased transmission temperature. I am not sure if the gauge you're referring to is displaying engine coolant temperature or if you have one that shows transmission temperature. We do offer Derale Class III transmission cooler # D12903 for your 5.3L Yukon XL which measures a generous 15-1/4 x 7-1/2. This can be mounted in front of your AC condenser to provide supplemental transmission cooling after the OEM cooler in the radiator...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Silverado, 4.3L, V6
The most popular transmission cooler for a 2007 Chevy Silverado (New or Classic) with the 4.3 liter is cooler # D13503. This cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. It is rated as a Class III which is what is recommended for vehicles with Class III trailer hitches. Metal lines are not an option but you could replace the rubber hose with metal lines obtained locally. However metal dissipates heat more quickly and easily than rubber so it might end up working...

I spoke with my contact at the manufacturer and he said that there are 3 main types of fittings that GM used during that year and that it was more or less random for the GM trucks so you may need any one of the three types. The three types are the fittings that were used are the fitting supplied with the cooler, a snap in style fitting, item # D13035, and the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM, item # D13018. I believe the last style of fitting is the fitting your truck will need....

  • Can a Supplemental Transmission Cooler be Used to Bypass Factory Cooler on 1996 Chevy K1500
A lot of people want to bypass the factory transmission coolers located inside the radiator. It is permissible to do so provided that the cooler is efficient enough. For this we recommend either going with the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment or the most efficient design. The most efficient design is a stacked plate such as # D13403. If you want to go with a plate fin design you can use # D13614. These are both rated as Class V which is the highest available. Another...

  • Identifying Transmission Lines on a 2003 Chevy Silverado with 5.3 Liter and Cooler Recommendations
I had a vehicle with this same engine and had a transmission cooler to it. The easiest way to find the correct lines going to and from the transmission is to start the motor and put it in drive for about 10 seconds or so. Then, put the vehicle back in park and turn off the motor. Under the truck feel both lines from the transmission. One will be warmer the other cooler to the touch. The cooler one is the return line. A supplemental cooler installs in line after the factory cooler. So the...

  • Transmission Line Fitting Recommendation for 1984 Chevrolet Silverado 454 Turbo
The Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13018, covers 1987 - 2007 Chevy trucks so I can not guaranty that this would work for you. Instead you can use a universal fitting like part # D13031 for 5/16 inch line, # D13032 for 3/8 inch line, or # D13033 for 1/2 inch line. You will just need to take a quick measurement of the line on your 1984 Chevrolet Silverado 454 Turbo to determine which one you will need.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 GMC Yukon XL 2500 6.0 Liter
Adding a supplemental cooler is a good idea, but you do not have to replace the factory one unless there is something wrong with it. You can add an additional cooler to work with the factory cooler for the optimum amount of cooling. When looking at transmission coolers I recommend going with the largest one that will fit in the available space in the engine compartment. There are 3 main locations a cooler can go: the most efficient is in front of the air conditioner condenser core/directly...

You will not need a longer filter or spacer when using this pan cooler. In fact this transmission pan cooler fits most 1982-1999 model 4L60Es. • Preventing Leaks When Installing Derale # 15718 Engine Oil Filter Relocation Kit
I spoke with my contact at Derale and they provided some very useful information. They said you do not want to use a liquid sealant of any type because it acts as a lubricant when first applied and would actually allow you to over tighten the fittings causing leaks. They suggest using a thread tape and tightening to approximately 8 to 10 ft lbs. Although the suggestion to hand tighten and then turn an additional 1/4 turn may work, the term hand tighten would be different for everyone.

This is an important consideration in choosing a weight distribution system, as well as determining if you are exceeding the towing capacity of the Avalanche. You cannot over cool a transmission. The ideal install location would be in front of the radiator and A/C condenser, right behind the grille. It does not matter where this cooler gets mounted because its fan offers the optimum amount of cooling all the time. Otherwise for a standard cooler that would require air flow I recommend # D13105.
