Note: When using this slider, your hitch head will not adjust to the lowest height setting.

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Non-Binding Design

The round-tube design of this slider allows for relatively uninhibited movement of your fifth-wheel hitch. Because your hitch can glide smoothly and easily along the rods, there is less chance of binding.

With straight, flat contact points, as found with square-tube sliders, tension can build between the slider and the hitch when your truck and trailer are somewhat out of line or are on uneven ground. As a result, it can be difficult to properly activate the slider when your truck and trailer are not in a straight line.

With a round-tube slider, there is more give between the contacting surfaces, allowing better mobility of the hitch system. Fewer corners means less tension buildup. Activating a round-tube slider is easier, and operation as a whole is smoother.

I also give etrailer a 5 star. I'm very happy etrailer could support me and provide this product. FYI... I had purchased same item on another online site because etrailer was out of stock. The first one never arrived. The replacement showed up but was re-boxed by UPS and bolts and other parts to assemble was missing. Curt told me they could not get me the missing items and suggested to return and reorder. Thake you etrailer for having restocked. If your reading this just order from etrailer. etrailer technically boxed the original shipping container in one of theirs boxes. Only suggestion would be to ship this via freight not UPS. UPS was the problem in the other orders... although they delivered this one okay, I guess tells me they are batting.

Fantastic. I have yet to use the slider but hitch is smooth and operates great. Have 2021 gmc 2500hd crew cab with 6’8” bed towing 2021 Cougar 5th wheel. Highly recommend after 1year and 3500 miles of towing.

The Curt sliding base for the Q16 seems to do what it is intended to do. I have only connected and disconnected once so far, and the first time I connected I could not pull out the activating arm to allow the hitch to move forward to the tow position. Moving the truck forward slightly seemed to unbind the mechanism. However, if this is going to be a routine step, it will be a bit of an annoyance. I expected this product to operate easily.

I would now rate this item as 1 star. In addition to binding up each time it was used, and it rusted so badly that I got tired of repaining it every time I used it. I would not recommend purchase of this item until Curt makes improvements and powder coats this product rather thsn using some substandard paint.

We are very happy with this product.

This took a while to receive. The original shipment was destoyed by UPS and they would not even try to deliver it even though they said I had refused it. The replacement order took a week to get here because UPS had a delay. The replacement IMHO should have sent Next Day Air with UPS footing the bill. The delivering driver did not seem too happy about the weight and when he got it too my garage(after breaking a tree limb) just dropped it on the garage floor. One end of the internal box was broken open and the crossmember weldment had one tab bent but it still appears to be usable. This unit fit perfectly in the floor mount rails and looks like it is going to work fine. Will find out in a couple of days

by:

3rd time and now I have a hitch, haven’t used it yet but looks good just wish I didn’t have to wait 3 weeks to get one that finally works.

Product works very well and is good quality. Excellent service from Etrailer made this an easy puchase!

by:

The delivery vendor dropped kicked the product. The box was tattered, but because of the design of the product it appears undamaged. May have more to report after the product is installed in the next 30 to 60 days or so. Product is heavy duty as it should be for the tasks that it will perform.

Great Hitch!!! I purchased this product for my 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with 8' bed. Instructions were very easy to follow. Everything looks to be of good quality. I use the Reese base rail kit RP56001-53 and it fit perfectly. It took me about 3 hours to install everything and to trim the bedliner. Took it out for a test run pulling my 5th wheel trailer that weighs about 7500lbs. Smooth is all i have to say. Just like everyone else says you will need some tools and a heavy torque wrench to do this job. Only negative thing that i have to say is that it took 2 full weeks to get everything delivered to do the installation. I would have to give etrailer a 3.8 stars for their service.

by:

Installed in a 2015 Ram 2500 and thanks to ETAILER'S videos, I installed it myself. It was not very difficult, just some tight areas to reach into.

ETAILER had the best price, shipping was fast and it arrived in perfect condition. Which is always an issue with large heavy items.

The hitch works great, zero issues. Be sure to get the proper thickness lube plate to avoid binding during un-hitching (so I have read online). Will likely get the lube plate cover this year. No regrets with my pruchase.

This has been a very good hitch except for one seriously flawed issue. We had just traversed I-20 across Louisiana and Mississippi then down to Mobil. I know those states pride themselves on low taxes and it shows. The roads are very poorly maintained but I didn't expect it to break my hitch. Arriving in Pensacola I was leveling my trailer while still connected to the truck. The slope was pulling up on the back of the truck but not that much. Snap on of the pivot pens sheared off. A No 8 tempered bolt is supposed to take 50,000 psi had just snapped off. Glad it didn't happened underway. Drilled it out and replaced only a 2 hour delay but Reese was like 'well did you check the torque that morning?' no sympathy or any sense of responsibility. The repair guy said it looked like a faulty bolt the way it sheared off - ok only a $35 repair but I didn't come away from my call with Reese feeling like they were concerned. Otherwise I think this hitch is very well built. It can be a little tricky to get it to lock - you have to make sure the trailer is at the right height and usually rock the truck slightly to get the lock to engage. Otherwise very nice. I did have to install a block and chain in my barn - this hitch is heavy to remove and install but very easy to do so.

After a LOT of research, I decided on this fifth wheel hitch and now that it's installed, I am NOT disappointed at all!!
Great hitch, great prices from etrailer, & great shipping service!!!
I saved about 35% buying from etrailer vs. my local dealer.

I ordered this hitch with the Ford F250 install kit. No problems installing it in my longbed 2015 F250. Measurements in instructions were "spot on"

4 packages arrived by UPS & all were intact. Nothing scratched, broken, or missing.

Looks like Ford relocated the bracket for the tubing that previously had to be moved, so it is no longer in the way.

The kit included conical washers, and spacers, & the drawing showed which was used with which kit, but it would have saved me a few minutes if it had been mentioned in the written instructions.

Erica was very helpful with my order, Thanks Erica.

If you can read a ruler, follow instructions, and drill a hole, you shouldn't have any problem installing this kit.

I am super pleased with the Reese sliding 5th wheel hitch that was installed in my 2015 Tundra.

by:

Incredibly fast shipping and free, WOW. Got my hitch in 2 days. I was able to install it in my F350 in about 10 minutes, rails was around installed. Can't wait to pull my 5th wheel and see how it does. I have looked at several different hitches and your not going to beat the price on this one. Thanks for the great price and product.

by:

The Reese 30866 is a great hitch and etrailer has it at a great price. Noah helped me make sure it would fit my rails and it snaps right in. And it snaps right out for when not in use. Breaks into 2 pieces for easy removal. Arrived overnight with free shipping and at about 75% below retail. Perfect purchase in every way. Thanks

Greg was very helpful in placing my order their shipping was extremely fast and installation was very easy in my 2007 2500 HD Duramax I am very satisfied with the performance of the Reese titan 16 K hitch

by:

This is a "One year follow up" but we've actually owned and used the R16 hitch for four years. The hitch works great. We've towed our 5 ton camper approximately 10,000 miles with this hitch.

This jaws on this hitch are too thick to use a plastic lube plate so I use grease. Reese may have addressed this issue by now. I don't consider it a major problem. While some people prefer a lube plate, it was beginning to drive me nuts on a previous hitch because they often fall off the fifth wheel king pin while hitching to the truck.

We had one area of concern. After three years and about 7,500 miles of towing I noticed the yellow, rubber pivot bushings wearing out. An internet search revealed Reese was replacing these with improved bushings at no charge to customer. I contacted etrailer and they shipped the new rubber bushing kit to me immediately. Replacing the bushings was easy and they have held up well.

RP30869 Reese 16K Titan hitch with round tube slider.

Reese Titan 16K hitch with round tube slider was manufactured in China. Serious quality issues required first hitch be returned to Reese because it was not functional. Hitch could not freely rock fore-aft because of improper casting and machining. Mechanic assembling hitch to its saddle had to use hammer to assemble. Replacement hitch received from Reese with a missing grease fitting but no similar interferences limiting hitch movement. The hitch saddle rests on 1" diameter pins oriented fore-aft through the slider cross piece that allows hitch to rock left-right. As manufactured hitch can move vertically about 1/16" on 1" diameter pins and fore-aft 3/16". So when driving over a hard bump hitch slams up and down on the 1" pin clearance. When braking hitch moves forward until hitch saddle contacts cross bar on slider. Contact is on as-cast, not machined surface. Contact is only on left side. When accelerating hitch moves back until hitch saddle contacts forward side of cross bar on slider. Same issue with contact but now on right side indicating improper set-up for machining of saddle casting. Design concept is good but design execution and manufacturing are very poorly executed. I am considering modifying hitch and slider cross bar to eliminate excessive fore-aft slop (clearance). I have not come up with a solution to reduce the vertical movement.
First hitch had to be returned to Reese because it was poorly manufactured and was not functional. Replacement hitch from Reese had missing grease fitting. Hole had been drilled but not tapped for zirc fitting.

Because of quality issues I encountered I cannot recommend purchase of these Reese products.

Hello

There is a learning curve
on this hitch.
1. I had a valley fifth wheel hitch that had one claw and the hitch went in and out no problem

2. This is a bit trickier if you back up to the pin and you are to far forward you cannot lock the hitch. It does not close all the way by 1/4 inch

3. Make sure trailer wheels a chocked front and back

4. I had to gradually pull forward maybe 1 inch or 2 and than the release handle went into place.

5. Un-hooking: This was new for me compared to the Valley and I think it is a good idea

6. If there is any tension on the hitch if to far forward or to far back you cannot release the jaws.

7. Again make sure wheels are chocked front and back

8. Lift the weight of the truck and see if you can open the jaws

9. If you cannot you will have to move the truck forward or back until there is no tension in the jaws.

10. This is probably a good idea.

11. My trailer is only 12,500 fully loaded so the 16 should be good

12. I thought I was in trouble with this when I could not hook it up and close the handle completely

13. I put a pin the handle so you cannot accidentally open the handle but as stated above with any weight on the hitch the jaws will not open.

14. A tad bit of a learning curve but I think this is better than the old Valley and it gives a better ride for some reason. I think it might be because of the 2 jaws, but what did I know, I had trouble un-hooking the thing the first time around.

I like it
