Custom Brackets for 5th Wheel Rails on 2005 Nissan Titan

Question:

Thanks for answering my question and sharing. I understand the cab clearance issue but I installed a sidewinder king pin with rotating turant. That will give me the clearance I need with the 5.5 bed I understand that placement above axel is crucial when mounting the fifth wheel but I'm stumped on the slider. Yes it will give clearance but sliding it back to me would be the same as mounting the hitch farther back in the bed. Which is a huge no no. If slid back to the back wouldn't the weight still be transferred behind the axel. Probably way over thinking this and probably designed to keep the weight distributed properly above. Thanks again. Greatly appreciated.

Sure thing. You will just need the Curt Fifth Wheel Installation Bracket Kit - Nissan Titan # C16470 which is a custom fit for your standard rails.

If your Curt E-16 is not a slider, you will also want the slider base # C16560 if you have the 6-1/2 foot bed. If you have the shorter bed you will need a rotating pin box for turning clearance.

You are correct that since you have a sidewinder, you will not want the slider base. Since you have the 5-1/2 foot bed, the Sidewinder is definitely the route to go and will not put the weight behind the axle which you are correct would be an issue when towing and that rear locked position is only for 6-1/2 foot beds and for turning and positioning not towing down the road. For your application, the standard hitch is great and you will also want the custom wedge for the best fit in your Curt E16 hitch. That wedge is Sidewinder Wedge for Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16991.
