Troubleshooting Brake Controller Output on 2011 GMC Sierra
Question:
Hi, I installed the P3 to a 2011 GMC Sierra step by step with your video but Im getting an output short and no brakes displayed on the P3 screen. I checked my wiring and both fuzes are good, what would you suggest to check for troubleshooting this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

For your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90195, I recommend starting with the brake controller's troubleshooting ability by following the attached installation details.
I recommend then checking the wires using an incandescent circuit tester like # PTW2993. Test each of your wires at your 7-way for function and then work your way back to your brake controller under the dash. It sounds like there is a short in your system and you'll need to find it and replace it. It specifically sounds like it is on the blue output wire, so you can cut that wire about 6 inches behind the brake controller and check for function. If functioning correctly there when you hit the manual override, you know it is a wire short issue. If not functioning correctly there, it is a brake controller issue.
