7-Way Trailer Plug Adapter or Compatibility with Lance Slide-In Truck Bed Camper

Question:

I am purchasing a lance slide In truck camper. Lance has a propriety plug for them. Do you guys sell a adapter that’s goes from a standard 7 way flat that came in my ram 3500 from the factory that adapts the lance plug?

Lance does have a proprietary plug, but many customers see a standard 6-way or 7-way round and notice it doesn't fit their factory 7-way as well. I've attached an article to help if you have one of the 7-way or 6-way round connectors which we do have adapters for. If you have a 7-way round, then you will use adapter # 47595. If you have a 6-way plug then you will use adapter # 47549 or # PK12728.

If you have the special Lance plug, I recommend replacing it with # A7WCB which would directly connect to your vehicle 7-way. The attached wiring article will assist with the pin positions. I've also attached a 7-way photo to help with the factory 7-way pin function locations.

Will this adapter allow enough amperage to run the Refrigerator like it supposed to ?

It won't change the amperage at all. As long as it's already able to supply enough power for your refrigerator then you'll be good to go using this.

@JeffR The Lance truck side wiring includes an 8 ga wire which should be connected directly to the battery (via fuse) in order to have enough current to supply the refrigerator and camper charging circuit. Most truck side trailer connections only supply enough current to charge a battery directly and not enough amperage to operate the refrigerator. The house battery will be drawn down to zero in only a couple of hours if attempting to use the normal trailer connection. Lance connectors are a nuisance in that the small diameter plugs accumulate dirt easily and the "split" brass pins lose contact easily. That style connector was used on commercial vehicles many years ago. If changing to a newer more robust connector the power contact still needs to be fed directly from the truck battery with 8 gauge wire in order to correctly power the camper for full use of the 12 volt system.

I am trying to find an adapter for a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 7 flat blade trailer plug and older 6 round pin trailers. Any suggestions ??? Thanks in advance.

We do have a selection of 7-Way to 6-Way round adapters, which I have linked below. The Hopkins # 47549 in particular will work great.
