Trailer Brake Controller Does Not Work with Brake Pedal on a 2011 GMC Yukon

Question:

I have a 2011 Yukon. I hooked up a brake controller but it wont work with the brake pedal. I can make the trailer brakes work with the manual override. I hooked a jumper wire from the fuse panel under the hood off of one of the trailer turn / brake fuses. With this set up I can make the electric brakes work from the pedal. However due to hooking it to the turn signal means the brakes also come on with the signal light. I tested the brake switch and there are 4 wire. One wire switches with the brake switch. But this wire is positive when the brake is off and neutral when the brake pedal is pressed. There is a second wire that is always positive and two more wire that have no signal. Is there a fuse or something else that needs to be check for the light blue wire to work. I checked the wire and them seem in good order. Also note that there appeared to have been a trailer brake controller installed before because the blue wire already had a used butt connector on it. Any thoughts on what to check?

You may have a blown stop light or CHMSL fuse on your 2011 GMC Yukon. Use the owners manual to locate the fuses. There also may be some connections that need to be made under the hood of the Yukon to make everything fully functional. This is common on GM vehicles, even those with a factory tow package. I have included a link to a help article that explains these connections.
