  • What Axle Capacity has 5 on 5 inch Bolt Pattern Hubs Available
There are only 3,500 lb trailer axles that have hubs available with the 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern like with the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-550-35-EZ-K so you'd need to go with a 3,500 lb trailer axle if possible or at least install new spindles like with the # TRU74FR.

  • Added Surge Brakes to a Pontoon Boat Trailer with 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern
We have two different drums available for your 4 on 4 setup, but in order to determine which is correct, we need to get your old bearing numbers. Your hubs will have two bearings, an inner and an outer. When we determine what the bearing numbers are we can find the right hub/drum. The numbers will be stamped on the bearings themselves. You only need to disassemble one side of the trailer. I have added a link to a video that covers removing seals and bearings from a trailer hub. If your...

  • How to Fix a Pitted Spindle
Unfortunately, we do not sell spindle repair sleeves. However, the best way to repair a pitted spindle is to replace the whole spindle or axle. If you are interested in replacing your spindle, you can give me the spindle product number, or I will need to know a few measurements to recommend a new one. You will want to use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to get the most accurate dimensions. The spindle measurements are labeled A through F, please view the diagram as a guide. A is the...

  • Replacement Grease Zerk for EZ Lube Spindle
The grease zerk used in their EZ Lube spindles like # TRU74FR is a standard 1/4-inch pipe thread fitting that you can replace with an item like # Gzerk. Your local hardware store may have one too. You can use a grease gun kit like # L30132 on this fitting.

  • Is There a #84 Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles That Comes With Brake Flange
There is an option very, very similar to the #84 Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axles - 2" Diameter # TRU24FR that includes a brake mounting flange, though not exactly the same. The difference is in the stub dimensions, as the aforementioned has a 2" diameter stub, and the option that comes with a brake flange has a 1-3/4" diameter stub: - #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange for 3,500-lb Trailer Axle - 1-3/4" Diameter # TRU74FR Apart from that, the difference is that this spindle is an...

  • Greasing Trailer Axle Spindle Where Zerk Fitting Broke Off
What I would recommend you do is extract as much of the old zerk fitting as you can and then going forward grease that hub by hand and you'll be totally fine if not better off than using the grease fittings. It's pretty easy to overfill EZ lube spindles and blow out the grease seal of the hub so if you grease the hubs by hand you'll avoid that and be in good shape. I have linked a video to the right that shows how to pack trailer bearings.

  • Recommended Replacement Hubs For a 2020 Tracker TrailStar Boat Trailer
From what I could find out about the Super Lube Spindles, they will be much the same as the Dexter EZ-Lube style spindles, like the # TRU74FR. This will include a zerk/grease fitting on the end that allows a grease gun to attach to. With that being said, I recommend going with the etrailer.com Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. This will have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and will match your bearings as well. One of the big pluses with this hub, though, is that...

  • Replacement Hub/Drum for Trailer with Inner Bearing Number of L68149
I believe you meant to type # L68149 for the bearing number which is correct for 3,500 lb trailer axles. So for a hub/drum that would fit that you'd want the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K and you'd be set. Smoothing out a rough spindle can be challenging as the bearings are a precision fit so if you take off too much material they won't fit properly. Typically you have to replace the entire spindle like with the # TRU74FR which comes with a brake mounting flange. You'd need to have someone with...

  • Can Electric Brakes Be Installed On One of The 3,500-Lb Axles of a Tandem Axle Utility Trailer
I would first check with the laws in your state as far as how many brakes are required for the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of your tandem axle trailer. Some states require brakes on both axles of a tandem axle trailer. If brakes are allowed on one axle I would recommend to put them on the front axle since that is the axle that will be bearing the most weight of the trailer. Also, when stopping the trailer, the weight of the trailer will be shifting to the front axle more than the...

I have three spindles that are for a 3,500-lb axle and have the bearing dimensions you have listed. The only difference is the dimension for the grease seal is 1.75 inches, not the 1.795 inches that you have mentioned. Maybe you typed in the seal diameter wrong. The hub number you have mentioned is just a casting number, not a part number. The three spindles I have for a 3,500-lb axle are as follows. #84 Spindle - 1-3/4" Diameter (8-1/4" OAL) # TRU64FR #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange...

  • Should a Trailer Hub Be Completely Filled With Grease After Being Installed On Spindle?
Yes, you want your entire hub completely filled with grease. This prevents the grease from being flung out of the bearings. If your spindle does not have a grease zerk like the # TRU74FR to fill the hub with grease you can use a device like the Bearing Buddy # BB1980A-SS to fill the hub. This particular bearing buddy fits a hub bore of 1.980. A Grease Gun # L30416 will allow you to fill the hub with Grease # L11390 with either the grease zerk on the spindle or the Bearing Buddy.

Most spindles have these welded on at the factory with specialized jigs and higher precision welding equipment that what even experienced do-it-yourselfers have. Square meaning the flange must be a true 90 degrees from the spindle and concentric meaning the gap around the spindle must be the same 360 degrees around. If not, the brakes will not wear...
